Pirates of the Spanish Main Sneak Peek - The Revenant!
The Revenant
Card Num: PS001
Number of Cards: 3
Number of Masts: 5
Cargo: 4
Movement: L
Flag: Pirates
Point Cost: 15
Game Text: Other ships do not block this ship's line of fire.
Playtip/Game Designer Note:
The Revenant is one of the big five-mast ships found in the first release. With five masts, you have five cannons, meaning you want to make sure you can angle to take a shot with as many as possible. Her front and rear cannons both have L range cannons, while the three middle one’s are S’s. Her biggest strength, however, is the rank on her cannon’s. It does not get much better then a 2, and all her guns are 2’s. This means that you only have to roll a 3 or higher (on a six sided die) to hit. While her capacity of 4 is good, you almost want to use 2 of those spaces for a captain and a helmsman. While the two crew take up 5 points of your build total, they will give the Revenant an extra S speed and the ability to move and shoot.
Re: Pirates of the Spanish Main Sneak Peek - The Revenant!
so that is a L+L first strike with just a captain and a 3+ to hit. Very likely that it can do the same with a full broadside on the next turn with the same ship.... could be nasty but that would be almost your whole "standered" fleet with just a few crew.
So far it looks like you are only going to be able to get 1-3 ships in a standered game

L+L?...
is that movement?...
or the front a rear cannon ranges?... and it's not necessarily first strike even with the captain... another player can still outmaneuver you if you don't have a helmsan...
the Helmsman gives the ship L+S movement and the captain allows the ship to move and fire...
but still this ship is very nice... I prefer HMS Lord Algernon
