If you have not read the books,go see this movie,not exactly pirates
but it will give you the flavor of Navy life in the Napoleonic era.
The ships were about the same and the movie is good.

I would also highly recommend the Horatio Hornblower series that was
on the Arts & Entertainment channel on TV...another good source of
British Naval life.

I recommend reading the entire Aubrey and Martin series by Patrick Obrien. Master and Commander is just 1 of a whole bunch of awsome books.

I'll look into that series of books, I have a lot of time available for reading and have lately had a hard time finding things to keep my busy.

I enjoyed Master and Commander. It illustrates several good examples of ship life and naval terminology during the period.
