2 questions for everyone:

Is there a printing error on his card? He's linked to Fidel Zuan but I notice he has no little "chain" symbol after his name on his card...?

Does anyone actually use this guy? For two points you have to stick him on a ship with at least 3 additional crew cards to get any savings at all...just seems like a bit of a wasted ability....I guess he'd be good if you needed to squeeze just a few more points onto an expensive ship that you were just LOADING with crew! (On a ship with Blackheart maybe?)

I guess I would if I was trying to make a darkhawk II/blackheart team. He could be very handy actually because if you put a oarsman or explorer on the ship they wont cost anything at all just cargo space but oarsmen dont take up space so its like a free crew member.

this is a perfect 30 point team and would be a good example why gaspar zuan is very good.

Whoops!! I forgot to answer question #1. I actually dont have gaspar zuan right now but I think that its a misprint. Just act like it has a link by the name since it says it has one on the bottom.

I hate to burst your bubble, but this is a 35 point team. You pay the points cost for the team BEFORE you place them on a ship, which is when gaspar's ability kicks in.
Gaspar's ability is really to make it so that you can push the points total of the crew higher than the point total of the ship, which otherwise wouldn't be allowed.
Example:
Pandora, 11 points, 7 cargo
Musketeer 3 pts
Cannoneer 2 points
Captain Jack Hawkins 4 points
Skyme the Monkey 2

That's the max crew by points. Add Gaspar:
Pandora 11 (cost)/7 (cargo)
Musketeer 2/1
cannoneer 1/1
Cap Jack 3/1
Monkey 1/0 (link)
Gaspar 2/1
That leaves 2 points for more crew, and plenty of cargo
You could then add
Explorer 0/1
Oarsman 0/0 (ability)
helmsman 1/1
Shipwright 1/1

Exactly 30 points, and full up the gunwales.
(not suggesting this crew, just an example).

This is 36 points, actually. Gaspar reduces the cost of crew on whatever ship he's on, but his ability doesn't kick in until you assign crew to ships (meaning you can't use him to exceed the point totals of the game). My favorite use of Gaspar is on the Raven's Neck:

Together with the Raven's Neck this totals 30 points, but Gaspar's ability lets you put 18 points of crew on a 12 point ship. Is it a good idea? Well, probably not. The ship's a nice treasure hunter (since it lets you look all over the place for the best treasure, loot other ships with ease, and make the most of what you get once you go home), but speedy ship fleets would probably leave it in their dust. But it does give an example of how Gaspar can make a big difference when crewing ships.

heres his effect, I got confused on if its before or after the start of the game.
