Hi. I was working on a play by email means of playing PotSM with the use of Cyberboard, which is a gaming program that can be utilized to basically convert boardgames and tabletop games for play by email use. After a bit of tinkering, I've been able to pretty much use Cyberboard for PotSM. I used the ship hull profiles of different sizes as icons representing actual card ships. Their descriptions can be added in cyberboard for quick reference as well as anything else needed.
Above is a screenshot of a test between a friend and I. Still working on anything I need to add to make it run more effeciently such as adding trays for coins.
A neat feature cyberboard uses that can be applied to PotSM is that the coins have two sides and can be flipped over for viewing. The ships can be rotated and moved aboat the board similar to playing the game in RL.
Graphics are a little crude but I made them mostly for testing purposes.
There are far too many ships for me to actually model...some I probably havn't even seen, still...so I made basic hull sizes instead depending on the amount of masts. You can name the ships though and enter a brief description such as the masts, cargo space, whatever. That's up to the players.
Yeah, the 30 hour thing wouldn't work too well, would it. LOL. I guess a house rule of a certain amount of turns would be needed or you could play it all the way through.
