Ok seriously if a ship requires that two shots from the same shoot action destroys one mast, would the firepot specailist burn the mast with one hit.
Agree or disagree
And since it takes two hits to destroy that mast a ship that can destroy two mast with one hit wouldn't work cause you have to hit the ship with two hits. Agree or disagree
I'm trying to be nuetral so as not to seem bias on the answer I want. easier to convince buddies i was fare.
Okay, you got me to look, but I think "PotSM heads" is a better liner. You got gear heads (mechanically inclined folk), bit heads (computer geeks), why not a PotSM head (someone not unlike myself who probably spends way too much time thinking about this game).
I checked the Wizkids FAQ and found nothing concerning your question. And your question seems like a good one as I have faced one of those difficult-to-destroy ship that take two hits to take down a mast, but as of yet I haven't tried a firepot specialist against one of them.
No, I disagree with the thought that the firepot specialist can set fire with one successful hit on a mast requiring two hits. In the interest of fairness, I think it should still take two successful hits on from the same shoot action. And if one of them happens to be a firepot, then the sails are alight and it's time to put in a fire mast. Now going by what is on the firepot specialist card, on your next turn there is a 50% chance that the fire will spread. So in effect, it is difficult to start a fire, but once started, the masts will burn like any other ship's. I think that would be fair to both players.
Others may disagree with me and have may better reasons for their answers, but that's my take on it. Hope it helps.
I would say that it could set the mast on fire with one shot.
I say this after some debate about a firemast removing a mast on the WK forums. A mast on fire isn't technically removed. The ship doesn't say anything about fire retarded masts, but rather removing the masts.

OK POSTSM heads would be right for someone like me but does that mean I have to wear a tie dye eye patch and listen to Pirates of the Caribean soundtrack while traveling the country. Greatful dead fans should get this lol.
I got the feeling after one post, a few posts later the orginal post would be contradicted. ;) man I give that guy a hard time, although his ruling on the firemast is pretty insiteful.
Hey, AdmTemple, how does the firepot specialist work against the French ship, Le Ville de Paris, where if she has all her masts, the first hit in a turn does not affect her. From what Piranha's ruling reads, it would affect her because a firepot hit is not a conventional hit. Yea/Nay?

The firepot hit isn't a hit, it is replacing a mast with a fire mast. This means that no effect that works to defend "hits" against your ship can be applied, including the effect of the Vill de Paris.
Quantrill, I second that nomination the the Firepot Specialist is the third most valuable crew in the game. I would nominate him as second most, but those pesky pirate ships are just so darn fast! However, I do the the Firepot Specialist the first place as the most fun, though. Burn, baby, burn, disco inferno...oops, I think I just dated myself. :)
