This is my first time building an army that is not 450 or 600 points, so its a little overwhelming to try and figure it all out, the scenario we are doing is 900 points 4th Succession War (Liao vs. Davion) and we are limited to one Gunslinger each. I am going to be Liao. The person I'm playing against will most likely run Damocles, Headmaster, and crapload of tanks and VTOL.
Here is what I have: Unique Mechs
Yen-Lo-Wang + Danai
Firefly + Ty Sung
Cornerstone + Hyu Youn Cho
Fireheart + Tung Cho
Breath of Fire + Wan Lau
Vederman Mad Cat II
Voskavich Warhammer IIC Regular Mechs
2x Vulture Mk.IV
2x Griffin
Avalanche
Anubis
Goshawk Vehicles
Coolant Truck
Morningstar HQ
Partisan AA Defense
MHI Hawk Moth VTOL
Skadi Swift Attack VTOL Infantry
4x Ravager BA
3x Laser Team
Towed Gauss
2x LRM Battery
Gray Death Scout Battle Armor
As for gunslingers, the only ones I'm seriously considering using are Magister (to tag his hi-defense tanks with HB), or Sparky (in case he uses indirects/artillery).
I'm not much of a House Liao player, but if I were you I'd go for Yen-Lo-Wang. That sucker's Agility takes half the bite out of Damocles' Blood in the Water ability and impact damage (like from a giant hatchet) goes straight through Headmaster's armor. Support with Magister for homing beacon and Nice Try, so as to turn off that pair's nasty abilities. If you can get them close enough, the Ravagers can pierce armor as well, I'd consider them.
Aside from those, I can't suggest much. I would, however, look long and hard for some Liao R10s if I was yous. Those Ravagers are crying out for a transport. Maybe the LRM Batteries'd work with Magister's homing beacon to boost their attack.
I dunno. Maybe a better HL player'll come along and smack me now, give ye some better advice :P

Hey....
If you have any....go for some ARROW IV artillery they don't have A.P. but do 3 damage and with a to hit value of 19...you will hit something. Another thing that I do is to switch mech pilots around. Unless you are sure you want to use their ability (in the case of the one lance DEVOTION) save the points for something else to include. Try some sniper teams if you have any older stuff or even simian battle armor which is pretty mobile.
oops, forgot to list what gear i have:
RISC Repeating TSEMP
L Repair
L Decoy
L Alpha Strike
RISC Overcharger
RISC Viral Decoy Jammer
RISC Viral Homing Beacon Jammer
RISC Bunker Buster
H Explosive Rounds
H Elec. Camo
M ECM Suite
A Melee Hardening
A Streak Missile
M Improved Targeting
and a few others that are either worthless or doubles.
My quick reply (until I can really analyze) is to make sure to include Magister and Pilot...since the pilot ability can cancel other pilot abilities, that will be invaluable. And YLW with Danai is a must.
