I'm having some trouble creating a 600pt House Steiner Army. Here's what I have so far:
Raptor II + Jasek Kelswa Steiner + RISC Armour-Piercing Explosive Rounds = 193
Stalking Spider + P-018 (+0 +1 +1) + Pulse = 200
Carnivore Assault Tank = 83
Faction Pride (F-013) +1 Damage = 20
Ravager BA + Ravager BA + Gray Death Scout BA = 63
Subtotal = 559
I don't know what else to add. I was thinking a Kinnol (74pts) but I dont really know what is good for around 40 points. I don't have any Steiner units in that point value. I do have the TTLs and a Sylph (SH), and I dont mind dropping the infantry formation that I have there. Any suggestions?
First, I am assuming that is the Dom Raptor, not the Phantom War Raptor (with built-in Armor Piercing) and you don't have access to the Steiner half of that battle force (otherwise, I'd suggest using the PW Sergeant pilot or the Annhiliation First Leutnant pilot for your Stalking Spider).
Secondly, I'd would suggest going for the Steiner Kinnol or the Padilla AM Tank over the Carnivore...the Carnivore is a bit too slow unless it's dropped. I would then use the extra points for the odd minigun cycle (either SH or HS works...they are both pretty good value).
I don't think there's a 40 exact unit, but the Stormhammers have the roughly 38 point Kite that has Anti-Personnel and is relatively fast to boot. The other suggestion would be the Steiner Bishop (41 points) for your battle armor.
There's a bit of a start...I take another look and see if I can come up with a few suggestions.
Yes, I dont have the Phantom war BF. I dont have that SH Kite either, infact, the only Steiner/Stormhammers units I have below 50pts is Larsen Habbick (Crow Scout Helicopter) which is 32 points, and the Balac VTOL which is 43pts. I do have the old SH Kinnol aswell (56pts). I would like to keep the Carnivore as I like the IT on it. I'm not sure if I want to keep the infantry seeing as I usually use them wrong.
I find Carnivores to have a nice indimidating psychological factor as it will force your opponents to deal with it or suffer. I'd suggest sticking the infantry formation in a screen next to the carnivore to make it more of a threat.
I would rather invest few points in better pilot for Spider, since it is going to be your primery attacker, Margaret Yeager or any of WH pilots fit the bill well.
The problem is that the only GS medium pilot I have is Charles Westerfield (+2 +1 -1) and all the rest are either HK, BR or non-unique. The best common pilot I have is the one I'm using. I don't know if I want to switch the two pilots around. If I do, I'll have a 12 attack on the Spider, but only a 10 on the Raptor II, and I think the Raptor will be around for longer than the Spider.
Could you give us a general rundown on what units you do have for Steiner/Stormhammer? If its not too big of course, I think it would help in giving you a better idea about what to use.

If playing where set retirement went away, I'd stick the Mars, Behemoth, and Carnivore in a formation for a brutal core cluster. Angerona/Ravager formation would be nice too.
So I played this army last night. It worked well, except for the fact that the first shot I took with the RISC gear I got a critical miss, and then the next one I rolled a 1 so I never got to use the gear. I'm considering switching it with normal anti-personnel, which would bring the total to 600. I rolled quite badly and I only scored most of the damage to my enemy after my mechs were taken out. The Carnivore got a critical hit on my friends RoS Scourge, and then rammed it 2 turns later to almost salvage it, but then he just killed me off. Here's the final build I used:

A warning from someone who speaks with the voice of experience - don't entirely scrap a decent army because one's dice hate oneself. It happens to everyone good or bad.
If I were you, I'd think about nixing the Balac and trying to pack in a couple of Steiner Sylphs. You'll likely have to mess with the infantry formation some, but I'm a firm believer in the principles of Victory Through Superior Harassment. The Sylphs can run VC3 as well as the Balac, and 18" moves with Grapple really is a sin against this game.
