I was able to go to the Pre-Release. All Things Fun in New Jersey.
Thanks Heather! (wife)
Thanks John, Ed, and Dina! I finally got my Unique on that last booster - JIGSAW!
There was about 20-25 folks there. Young and old, Veteran, Experienced, and Rookie levels, men, women, and children! Very nice place. Lots of room and an indoor Privy! The judge was firm, but fair and made the spectacle lots of fun! He was throwing out LEs for things like first Rookie kill, first Exp kill, first Unique kill, and rolling crit hits and misses. Everyone got some sort of participation pack containing victims and plot twists.
I went 0-1-1 (yes, a tie :( ) and decided to grab another booster for a BR.
While I didn't write down the exact contents of each exact booster, the following were some favorites of mine:
Werewolf Orderly - R 30pts - Possible 6 damage with Slash attack!
Man in Black - E? ? - Whoa! What a piece! 17 defence with damage reduced by 2 and "mind-fog" (able to apply a token instead of making attack!) [I actually traded him away for a piece I really wanted]
Plague Vagrant - E 55 - Another very tough piece! He starts off average enough, but he's a swimmer with 4 range. After taking 4 clicks (has one hourglass slot), he jumps to an amazing 4 AV! , but his DV is 17 with dodge (5 or 6 to evade) and he has another 3 clicks of life, plus if he's able to kill a monster he jumps back to his starting click.
Vat-grown Clone - V 75 - His sculpt is menacing enough, but he's a martial artist for 5/6 of his clicks and his pain ensures that damage is penetrating on first 2 clicks. Does 3 damage on 5/6 clicks.
Pod Zombie - E 30 - If nothing else he came in 2nd place in the BR...Zombies are cool. A humorous aside, I placed him next to a MiB and after we (sorry - I've forgotten your name...) agreed to go after the other side of the tables figs, we both realized we'd have to each roll 6 to escape double "trap"...
Other pulls:
R Candy Striper
R Evil Cosmonaut
R Scrubber
R Plague Vagrant
R Asylum Spirit
R Hardhat Zombie
E Lab assis't (Helga)
V Lab assis't (Bertha)
V Werewolf Orderly
V Zomb Patient
V Proto-Cyborg
U Jigsaw!!!!
I pulled the following Plot Twists:
[These first 6 were pulled in my 3 tourney boosters...]
Sub-Plot; Mind-Slaves (good for Occultists)
SP; Zombie Horde (Zombs)
SP; Slasher Madness (Slasher)
SP; Deputization (Guardians)
SP; Lycanthropy (Werewolves)
SP; Vampire Plague (Yup, you guessed it - vampires)
Molotov acid cocktail - roll d6 result of 1/2 slaying attempt fails and monster is dealt damage equal to that number. Result of 6 enables victim to escape (slaying fails).
Bolus infusion - roll d6. slaying succeed on a 5/6 and monster is assigned tokens that equal 2.
I guess that's about it. I'll be rehashing and writing up a more detailed account in an upcoming issue of Critical Hit (if Rock810 is okay with my prose...)
I was honored to receive a booster of The Lab myself today. :-)
For those who need to know it all you can see scans of the booster and the letter on the front page of my site. And for those dying to see a minion, I received a vampire minion.
Pulls:
Zombie & Slasher minion PTs
Carnage-bot R
Zombie Patient v
Zombie Trooper E
Reptosapien E

One of the two kids was mine.
Did you know you had other HCRealmers in there with you ?
The Blond woman who was "playing" (but really teaching newbies) was my wife Caitriona on the Realms, Budpalmer and I (Badgerbite, were all there)
you can read about all of our pulls in the "Another Realm" section under The Lab General Discussion Thread.
I can't wait to start reading this on Wednesday. I hope everyone does well and posts their goodies. It will be Friday until I get mine, so I must live vicarously here for a couple days.
I was wondering who headed that site. Props to you for having the jump on WK re: The Lab dials.
I posted those on HCrealms, in the Another Realms Section, with Mark Tuttle's blessing, this was not a jump on Wizkids at all.
Those are all dials (with more to come) from the pre-realse.
I asked Mark (Horror Clix Brand Manager) if it was ok to put them up.
I have put up links on this site and Wizkids as well.
If there are any figures anyone wishes to see, I will do my best to get them up.
I took a short trip today and now have MI-Go to add to the list among others.
Most, but not all. You're not the only source of Lab info, Badger. There wa salso a UK pre-release and many boosters sent out as previews.
I was pointing out that no one got the jump on Wizkids.
We are doing exactly what they wanted us to do, talking about their game.
They are using the cheapest and most effective form of advertising, word of mouth.
They sent out "free" boosters and had the pre-release to advertise their product.
Wizkids released their product to us early, without posting about it on their own site for one reason, so we would talk about it, so we would ask questions of each other, so we would gain interest in and spread interest in their product.
It worked.
Now would anyone like to talk about it ?
I still do, and I have many more things that I will post for us to talk about.
See, it's working.
Got the jump on Wizkids ? Under the radar ?
We are right where they put us, with one week to go before everyone has access to the Lab, we are talking about and looking forward to their product.
I have to take my son out tonight, but I promise, before I go to bed tonight, I will post more dials and cards, so we have more to talk about tomorrow.

I have sean a lot of griping about a lack of previews for Heroclix. I have to say this word of mouth think you speak of is a lot more fun. It is taking you a little time to get these up, but we know you are doing it, so I keep cheecking back. Great job and thanks for working. Maybe Mr. Tuttle knew what he was doing from the beging.

I post a few before work as I have my morning coffee, then a few in the evening to keep it going each day.
I still have a about 14 more of my own to go and I'll get more over the weekend after I check out some of my friends stuff.
All but just a few will be posted before the set is released.
i got psychiatrist victim token
R Zombie Patient
E Brain Eater
R Proto Cyborg
U Gyruss!
the brain in a bubble looks great i cant wait to play him....
i LOVE the back of the E Brain Eater...its a recipe:
CEREBELLUM IN SHERRY SAUCE
2 tablespoons margarine
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup wter
3/4 cup fresh milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
dash white pepper
1 fresh cerebellum, cooked and sliced
2 tablesppons medium-dry sherry
Melt the margarine in a pan, add the cornstarch, and combine the two ingredients into a paste. Then pour in the water and milk and stir constantly until....
Our gaming group just finished opening up its first brick. We got at least one example of all but 6 REVs, three uniques (four if you count the duplicate Pyromaniac), a total of 8 duplicate monsters, a complete set of Plot Twists (as well as four dupes, of course), all 6 minions, and 5 of 6 victims (got two shrinks, missing Grad Student). All of the PTs were collated as evidenced in the promotional boosters.
8 of the 12 boosters were perfectly packed, 3 had the cards curled or bent a bit (5% to 10%), and one was just a mess: The booster box itself was actually warped because the figures had been jammed in. The plot twists were fine, but all 4 monster cards had one corner bent 70%. Carnage-bot was jammed into the Brain Eater, bending both of them about 30%. Muttering Igor was bent forward so his face was millimeters from the base.
I did receive a surprise "bonus". I wouldn't exactly call it a "chase" item, but its the first I've heard of one appearing in a booster. What was it, you ask? A grey plastic shim, slightly longer than a booster box. Apaprently this is what they use to insert the cards into the box without damaging them. For the most part, I'd say it works pretty well.
For those interested in the individual booster pulls I've posted as much detail as I could fathom on our website: here. That page will continually be updated as various club members open boosters and should contain data on 3-4 cases worth of boosters by the end of February.
