House Davion Action Pack Advertised in Diamond Preview
In a little paragraph at the bottom there is a solicitation for the House Davion Action pack. 6 Mechs, 4 assaults and two mediums including the templar and the enforcer III. Usually does that not mean three months from solicitation?
If there are only action packs this year, there should at least be about one or two a month or so! I don't know how Wizkids can kill off the game faster than only making 6 new units every three months. Thats only two figures a month! Before we were getting a new set about every three months.
Oh yes. Wizkids is purposefully holding back product to scare its customers away. The QUESTION was whether or not it will be 3 months before the Davion Action Pack is released, based on information known about Alliance/Diamond.
Instead of answering that question everyone is going "OH NOES" again. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If you can't be patient for a game you love, then you're in the wrong hobby. Go do something else.
Hate to talk about the dark side but I hope WK would listen.
Yes, there are players who remained thru thick and thin and will continously remain loyal to this game. No doubt, I for one would.
The problem lies with the newer players. Those who just joined during wolf strike. These folks barely have decent units, they don't have much resources to go fishing at ebay. In short their only avenue is thru boosters and the generousity of older players.
The ironic thing is MW is picking up in our country only to hear from WK that 2007 is going to be a lean year for MW. It's totally a bad timing to pick up the hobby. But I sincerely hope the new guys would remain and would do my best to help keep the interest alive.
It's one thing to love the game, but it's totally naive not to realize to current situation.
Would I stay? Heck, been thru the worse.
Would I discriminate people from picking up the game? As amish said, not fun playing for yourself, by yourself and with yourself.
Sky is falling? Happened a long time ago when WK impose retirement, but huge pieces still falls from time to time.
I'm excited about the action packs.
But one action pack every 3 months? Baaaa!
Usually does that not mean three months from solicitation?
Based on the WotC products announced in this issue (because it's pretty easy to track down WotC release dates), these products appearing in this issue should appear in April.
Aren't there missing battleforce sets that might be released in March? (We have released for Jan & Feb announced)
Was hoping APs (which the HD was/is the first) would start sooner than Apirl. After all Outlaws was already done.
Must be the retooling for the new packaging.
Are they all going to look like the BF packages?
Any one heard anything about the APs other than HD:BF is the 1st one?

Somone (Jonas, maybe) has said that they'll be like the PW set, with a clear window to see the product. He also teased in chat that he's gotten the paint masters for the Champions Action Pack (champs from last year's events) and they look good.

There's another group. Collectible gamers. The group who saw the Star Wars CCG pulled before it had finished. Who saw the Battletech CCG pulled after its latest release was "delayed". Who saw LOTR pulled despite releases actually being scheduled and eventually released (albeit late). Who saw Wars completely collapse.
Collectible Gamers are staunchly loyal when the game is alive but what they want is the building experience as much as the playing. Unlike us ex-CBT-ers their loyalty is not to the brand but to the mechanics. If they like the mechanics of the game, they'll play it.
Unfortunately Collectible games tend to have a predictable life cycle and in the past, death throes have been pretty consistent in format.
First the releases get put back. That's always the first sign. It's been consistent with every collectible game that's ever got cancelled.
Then the game stops. The releases that were "due" usually never happen or if they do, are shoddy, badly playtested, late and ill-received. They get put back indefinitely until everyone has found a new game to play and/or the line finally gets canned.
Now I'm not saying this is happening to Mechwarrior but do bear in mind that every single one of my players comes from a CCG background and every single one has seen games cancelled. And they see the pattern and to them, Mechwarrior is precisely in the place where LOTR was when (iirc) the Riders(?) expansion was due out. Riders did get released in the US (not here in the UK though) but it was very delayed and shortly afterward the game died.
So rather than wait around to see whether or not the game has a future (like they did for the first 2-3 times it happened to them), they have just found something else to spend money on.
You can't blame Wizkids for having to sort out strategy. However assuming the game does come back, they are going to have to bring something special just to get back the player base they had prior to Wolf Strike.
I'll buy this pack. Just like I'll buy the Nova Cat one if/when it gets released. And I'll keep coming back here in the hope that my patience will be rewarded.
Do we have actual confirmation on that, or is it just speculation? I know the Templar was revealed as being part of the Davion set in the recent online chat, but I've seen/heard nothing definitive that Enforcer & Atlas are the other two (it would be nice, but...)

A NovaCat set? Have you heard something the rest of us haven't? I thought that after the Davion set we were looking at a couple of Gunslinger packs to go with the debut of the Solaris rules, and after that nothing was definitive.
Not saying either of the above statements are inaccurate/wrong, just curious about what the source of the information is. Thanks.
