An army I designed for an upcoming event my venue is holding. The rules are 450 points, light ‘Mechs only. You get one unique thing per army (which means one unique pilot OR one unique ‘Mech), and any infantry/vehicles you use have to have either Scout or Recon in the name or be possessed of Infiltrate or Recon SE. Basically a scout lance fight.
I expect the Solitaires to be coming out in droves, which would normally drive me to formation armies – if I had the pieces for it. But, alas, the only legal 3-cap transport is the WH R10 MICV, of which I have exactly zero. As a matter of fact, my only scenario-legal transport is one lousy BR Sprint. Oh well. No WH Kelswa-drop armies for me. So…I did two things. First of all, I dragged out my own Solitaires – all two of them – and put them in an army. Used my one unique in the BR Solitaire for Graves, give me a real hard nut to crack that can crack things itself, and standard light fodder in the HK – that one’s hoping for its Hardened to work, and is also the sacrificial CCAO/Charge offering for breaking BR Solitaires
The second thing I did was to put the best rambots I had in this thing, which ended up being a pile of Kite Recon Vehicles of various factionalities, as well as a pile of Scout ATVs to make up the points. The rammers are for the other Solitaires I figure I’m going to be hunting as well as the usual sort of light vehicle tasks, and ATVs do what ATVs do. The HK Kite also has a nifty AnP gun for zoinking the inevitable GDSBA formations and such
Much as I’m pining for my sweet R10/Kelswa drop army of harms-many Solitaires, I figure this one will do the job so long as I can roll properly and don’t do anything stupid, like run my Solitaires into range of a formation drop or other such idiot behavior. Tell me what ye think, ne?
looks good, if you've got HL they rock, two HL anubis' with sang wei's and decoy - 288 points for both, dual target laser, single balistics, 10 attack, 24 defence, decoy!
leaves you 162 points for either a third anubis, a stack of infantry, tank drop, or a combination ... the anubis' can go head to head with solitaires in nearly all situations, the only time i've found them lacking is when you need a 28" evade run rather than a 20" run :)
Heh...actually, a day or so after I posted this army, my brother reminded me that my CNC Vixens, with a Focht Grad and IT in them, come to exactly 150 points, so...debating running this army or just using three Vixens so equipped. Would be hell trying to crack the Solitaires...but anything else would be meat, eh?
