hey, i saw it on wizkids, but can't post there, so figured we may as well kick it off here :)
just because i like them sooooo much i was thinkin a HL anubis had to be an option sooooo ... here we go!!!

ok, main idea here is if your oponent also has 24 defence, you can afford to charge them (which will usually do away with their evade thanks to 11IT ignooring evade and decoy and leaving you with 23 defence vs a RCA).
second turn, break away / run to turn it back into a ranged game (anubis has evade longer than most light mech's) as the anubis has evade longer than most light mech's ...
failing that, CNC vixen with it's 16" 5 damage PPC supporting IT & +2 attack pilot would be pretty lethal
They are if you make a close combat attack with them. In Solaris VII of you make a close combat attack with a mech and use a ballistic or energy type instead of melee type damage it will only do half damage.
So in Solaris are they automaticcaly declaring it a close comabt attack if your in the adjacent hex or can you still declare a ranged attack? in other words a mech with only ranged weapons that is in a adjacent hex to an enemy mech must make a close comabt attack? So the damage would be halved.
No Blanner, you can still shoot in base contact. Always could, short minimum range.
Anyways. For light Solaris I tend to use Thunderthighs with I.T. Stable damage that lets me counterattack even towards the end of the dial, and "Not the Face!" is a potent defense that can keep me going at the same dial-end. Long movement range, with JJ for abusing hell out of that abrupt elevated and avoiding close combat. Yeah,gun range isn't the best, but that hasn't been as huge a factor in most Solaris matches I play, especially with assault orders being downplayed thanks to the move phase/combat phase thing. Heh...plus, Thunderthighs is just fun.
So, whodoes everyone else use in the light division? Got HL Anubis and T-Thighs so far, any other winners?
I am thinking a WH Mjolnir with DoubleRate. a 12 attack and 8 clicks of damage. remember in SL7 you move inthe first phase then attack in the next phase so AO does not have to be used to get into range.

you cant AO with double rate anyways, it requires a ranged combat order.
Off the top of my head after reading the rules and how devestating heat will be.
Matchstick, +P and improved targeting or pulse.
sure his defence will be really low but dealing 2 heat every hit and his rising attack value could make him very deadly. Also he does start with 4 damage as well, and grey armour.
Anyways thats just a thought he might total suck but i think heat will be a big issue in solaris.
