The idea is to destroy all blocking terrain, therefore eliminating the Mission card objective. THen it becomes a matter of outkilling the opponent. IN this situation, big, fat mechs do better. The only piece that is in this army that I worry about is the combat technicians, but I felt some sort of repair piece was called for. Given the Salt flats in play, I'm expecting to see a lot of ATVs. And since the number of pieces killed is more important than the point value of those pieces, their just fodder to the cause.
It has promise. Looks like the key will be whether or not you can hit a 23 to destroy the terrain with RD mechs early value.
If you can't hit them early, you may get too tied up in battle to be able to succeed later in the match.
I choose a higher attack value. I'll admit that my army is mutt, but with no same faction half build restrictions, I treated this as a contructed build.
Emperor Vulture w/ Chris Hart (13AV and no repair markers)
RISC bunker buster
WH Mojlner w/ Scott Graves
Repair
Kenneth Medechelk
Rhode's Combat Techs.
x5 L ATVs
HL Peasant
600 pts.
The idea is to place 1 piece of blocking terrian myself. A small one close to my DZ. Even if my opponent places 2 blocking, I can still destroy both w/ Emperor since he has 2 targets.
Protect my small blocking while repairing units to wear down the opposing force.
Unfortunately I don't think bunker buster can be multitargeted between two different blocking terrain pieces. the exact wording on the card is as follows.
(optional) This unit may make a ranged combat attack with a blocking terrain feature as the target. Draw a line of fire to any part of the target. If the attack result is equal to or exceeds 23, remove the target from the game. Then eliminate this gear
I say this because it states "A blocking terrain feture as the target" I could be totaly wrong and just be reading into it too much but I'd check that out before I tried to pull it. Hehe....I was thinking of doing something similar except with CW thors or WH thors.
Though now I am thinking more along the line of running 3 RoTS Jackalopes with Mila Mazur (1/1/2) Scott Graves (0/2/2) and "Scrub"'s pilot (0/2/2) and evade. heh. three light mechs with 25D vs ranged. and AAMS too boot. My other one was going to be:
"Reaver" Warwolf 211 pts
Nikki Raddick (Protecting the pack version) 45 pts
CW Padilla Anti-missle tank 68
CW Padilla Anti-missle rank 68
and some other 208 points worth of support. I just think it will be funny when most of the incomming ballistic attacks get reduced down to nothing. And since Salt Flats is in play I don't have to worry about constant tremors being plopped down to bend me over...

Hey Dark,
I'm with you I always check first, and you can target more than 1 target if your Mech has multiple target ability. Same goes for RISC Deforester:laugh:

used the 3 CW listed above and i used grayhunter with samuel wolf and IT and gave the reaver IT (2 points left)

First Prime is right. As long as the slot to which the gear is equipped has multiple targets, you can target that many blocking terrain pieces. This is a big deal in a Storyline a few months back (The one with the repairing buildings) SouthPaw13 clarified it on the WizKids forums. Check at the Beginning of two months ago under MechWarrior rules and you'll find the thread.
