I was just wondering which modifiers should apply when using coolant flush SE. The rulings state you should do a close combat attack. So does it mean a +2 for cooling in the rear arc and +4 for cooling a shutdown mech? Or does it follow the rules of repair and we should simply use the unmodified defense value?
(purple) COOLANT FLUSH (optional) This unit may be given close combat orders, regardless of its type. Give this unit a close combat order targeting a friendly figure not in base contact with an opposing figure. The attack does not score damage, and it ignores all non–heat effect close combat modifiers. This unit may move up to its speed value before making the attack. If the attack succeeds, the target loses 4 heat if this unit didn’t move before making the attack, or 2 heat if it did move. The target does not lose additional heat on a critical hit and is not dealt 1 pushing damage on a critical miss.
Meaning no rear arc modifier, no pilot defense modifier and so on. the only modifier that should apply would be shut down though from what I have been hearing from the two local battle masters is that heat effect is only what is on the heat dial. Though an effect of the shutdown roll is a +4 to be hit, so I am not buying that one.
i would guess it would depend on the (purple) se or the new coolant flush card H the se is similar to repair but the new card is not also the card only cools 2 instead of 2 or 4 based on movement
