Hi, I've started to play since last year and have basically been buying boosters from the various sets. I've always alligned myself with Davion and to my fortune I recieved a lot of SSw pieces and some Davion pieces as well. Since most SSw were before gear and pilot slots my armies didn't fare too well and the horrible heat dials along with my inept ability to roll meant a lot of shooting a lot of missing and a lot of shutting down.
I don't want to leave my favorite house so I bought a few pieces I found online and used more Davion units and only Davion for mechs and composed a 900pt army. please review and comment. My idea was to have a lot of units rather than one power unit like my Hasbani Atlas army did. I also tryed to keep their speeds high so I could make retreats when needed.
The mechs are an improvement because none shut down before the last click and they have slots for the SSw captains and the two gears I decided to put in.
The kages I heard were very good. Before I was using grey death scout armor for there recon and decoy but they lived shorter.
Since i have all jump-capable mechs I thought I could use beach to trap non-jump-capable mechs. It doesn't tax my build total so it seemed good. I was also going to use duststorm to even out range issues because I realize my ranges aren't that high (12 being my highest) and the two goshawks only have a range of 10.
The faction pride cards and pilots were used to boost damage and attack values when needed against opponent's heavier units. The ibler and joust tanks were put in because they were readily available and I bought the kinnol because it looked good. JI100 for repairs
I guess my weakest area are my ranges. I think/hope this was much better than my original army but I'm very much open to suggestions. Realize the nearest hobby shop doesn't do mech tournaments and I'm the only one with the units between my friends so if they play they play with my pieces. Also availability and cost are issues. Many pieces I wanted were out of stock and im not about to spend mindless amounts on boosters for one piece.

I can't, (checks booklet), opps. well it was my first attempt at using CEC's so i guess i missed that point. well which one is better for my army. That'll free up some space for me.
My personal take is that it's a toss-up, maybe. But for such a sizable army there aren't any real heavy hitters (damage-wise) so maybe the damage pride? Hmmm. Maybe someone more experienced with the faction should chime in here...
Thanks Juanito. Ive revamped it a little bit. Because I can only use one FP card i can deduct 30 pts off. Ive then removed a SSw captain and added in Julian Davion for his alternate point cost of 36 giving me 13 points to play with. I digged around my bucket and found a SSw purifier BA for 13.
Is this for an upcoming tournament event? If so, remember that Beach can only be used for one round, that you'll need another 2 mission or 1 mission/1PC card in your hand for the rest of the battles.
no its not for a tournament. No venders near me play mechwarrior. It's just something for fun against my few friends and to see if my idea was worth the try.
Do you have the SSw Behemoth II (D071), SSw Sgt. Leo Riordan (D126), SSw DI Morgan Assault Tank (F014), and/or J-37 Ordinance Truck (E046)?
If you do, I would recommend dropping the J100 for the J-37, because it can tank drop and repair. Also, I'd drop the Zibler/Joust, in order to afford one of those larger tanks. This a gives you a couple of heavy hitters and the Behemoth is a lot more repair friendly for more damage. I would then use the re-roll FP. This gives you some very heavy firing support for you mass of other units.
If you don't have the other tanks, perhaps you could trade out one/two of those Goshawks for a better mech, because, frankly, I wouldn't use those two if I could help it, but they could form a decent support for heavier tanks.
If you post what you have available to you, it would be helpful in making suggestions.

SS DI Morgan Tank
SS Purifier BA (super cheap and can keep up with the Kages)
SS JI 100 Repair Vehicles (I know the J37s are better, but the JI is still cheap)
Try to stick to using those and fill in the gaps with the others.
Yea i got rid of the Goshawks in favor of the Mad Cat. Im kinda sorry I spent the money on them. I got rid of the Zibler in favor of the DI Morgan but the Osiris gets 0 defense on its last two clicks, or something like that. Anybody know if that is a misprint? I gave up the two pilots for a heavy pilot. So I have 78ish points for gears. I have a Decoy I could strap onto my Mad Cat. I was also thinking about a RISC hyperlaser I have which would give it a 21 inch range.

Definitely a misprint. The DV on the last two clicks should be 16 and 15 respectively. Do you have pilots for both your 'mechs? IMHO pilots are more important than gear as they affect up to three of the dial stats rather than just 1.
I have julian davion which could go in the enforcer. +1/+2/+1
Swordsworn captains -/+2/+1
and a whole bunch of generic pilots including a +2/-/+1 or a -/+1/+1 that could pilot the mad cat
but i have a lot of variety. originally i was going to use the enforcer with julian and heavy armor and the madcat with the -/+1/+1 and decoy.
and, pardon me, but what does IMHO stand for. I haven't been using the forums for long.
well i beat my friend in a battle although he conceded before the baddies were used so it wasn't a good indicator of my army's strength but none of my units were KIA. And I tore threw the infantry and ursa he sent my way.
