A while back I was comparing 2.0 Nexus remake figures to their 1.0 counter parts. I came to discover, that a great many of them were actually less powerful than their 1.0 counterparts. For example, There is very little chance that Heddravalis can actually defeat the Solonavi Striker. Heddy would get the first shot off, but then the Striker would simply have to bound out of Heddy's range and return the 4 click favor. There is no way in hell Elsygmasis can take out the Creator, I don't care what might happen. Boomstone would also fall to the mighty Thunder Golem.
There might be a few 2.0 remakes who could ruin there 1.0 counterparts, but not many. My question:
Who out of the 2.0 remakes are actually better than their 1.0 counterparts?
I wouldn't be so quick to chalk the win up to the Striker. If Heddy hits him for 4-1 = 3, he's down to a 10 attack, so he'd need a 9 (8 if he bounded around to the rear arc) to hit Heddy while soaring -- definitely not certain. As for the rest, yeah, the 1.0 guys are probably a bit better overall. I do think that most of the heroes were greatly improved... I can't think of any off the top of my head :p but I'm sure that some get better.
The Axe-Knight is a toss up, I find (both are decent figures, the Nexus one is bigger, but is costed appropriately higher), but Wylden bandit beats the hell out of Cedora and Nexus Sentry Golems make mincemeat of 1.0 Sentry golems.
how bout cindrata and the amazon drac i would go with cindrata but at some point i would agree that 1.0 figs might own there 2.0 version but same goes with some 2.0 versions there might be some down sidess but there are also upsides but im just curious how bout the anunubs match up i can't really simulate it cause i don't have the 1.0 version also a fun match up podo but would have to put my bet on the 2.0 cause of the 20 def
:) :) thats nice to here cause that is the message that i would like to get across not all 1.0 would own 2.0 counter parts theres a few more that i can think of like red dutches or raydan mars but the podo match up would show case a really great example of some 2.0 figures can hold there own in a match up against there 1.0 conterparts but of course some 1.0 figures would own there 2.0 counterparts
i got one as well if were talking about factions i would put my money on the 2.0 mage spawn just for the fun of it :D :D maybe the khans in general as a faction every faction has somebody that would stand out against 1.0 example for solonavi who can stand up to vextha or trix for dracs theres a lot vharigar, vithzerai, chroma, pathis arcana, drakor just to name a few for BPR theres janos and kenaz and the list goes on
but reverting back to the original topic of 1.0 vs 2.0 versions i personally think that it is still very even some will stand out against the other
I think that some of the 2.0 are weaker only because of the fact that they are so customizable. Since you can add +3 to each depending on gear, they can in a way be way greater than their 1.0 counterparts! Otherwise yes some 2.0 are more for less (except that their sculpts are better)!
There was nothing wrong with 1.0, the only problem was a few certain figures/abilities which were overpowered and could have easily been fixed to balance things out.
I liked 1.0 when I played it. However, I was always annoyed by the fact that only certain figures could move and attack. Ranged units seemed to have a lot more power, and a lot of games that I played in tended to be "dance-fest", where neither side was willing to commit anything unless they had Charge.
I like the Surge rules in 2.0; if nothing else, that one proficiency made me enjoy the game even more than I had before. Plus, I liked all the other options and extensions that 2.0 provided. Heck, I even like Spells (as a concept, not necessarily the implementation of some of the individual spells themselves).
The one thing with 2.0 that irked me is the retirement of figures, and the lack of finding a way to "boost" some of the nerfed 1.0 figures (such as the Charge/Bound figures). I think there could have been a better way to handle it. As the rules guy at the time, I would have preferred addressing specific "broken" combos involving 2.0 and 1.0 figures than outright retiring them, but I alas didn't have any say in that matter.
