Okay what I find unusual is that there is many people talking about 1st Edition selling out.

With the popularity of CCG's at the moment, wouldn't they have done a little research into what production numbers are needed? After all a game that barely hit the shelves and is now almost sold out had under-estimated the popularity of a game (Which I highly doubt)

To me this sounds like a marketing ploy of some description. 'Quick its almost sold out! Buy as many packs as you can right now!'.

Personally if the game sold out that fast, I would be put off future sets because of this problem (especially for collecting purposes).

How do others feel about this?

I think they mean that it's all been sold to the distributors. There should still be about a month's worth of First Edition making it to stores (sent by the distributors).

Maybe I'm way off base though.

I believe JoFo is correct. They have a limited amount of time on the presses to print 1st Edition, before they have to start pushing out Unlimited. With the news we've been hearing about how fast the product is being sold, I'm sure that Distributors have all put in their reorders, and are now ordering into the Unlimited run. That's just speculation though. I know the distributor here ordered 3x the pre-orders they got from stores and should be sold through that by next week. They've already reordered a substantial amount.

See the problem is that here in Australia, we havent even been shipped our first order. So what I can see is just say I bought one box of boosters (fighting everyone else off) what are the chances of if I needed to order another box I am not going to get stuck with an unlimited box.

Okay, to clarify:

UD has all but sold out their 1st Edition run on Origins. This means that every case has been ordered.

This DOESN'T mean the game is sold out. Aside from the UD account holders, the orders haven't even been filled yet. Stores who don't have UD accounts, or who do but also ordered from distributors are only getting their orders this coming week.

So don't worry about being able to buy packs - there are plenty of cases left for the buyer =)

Anyone who is familiar with YGO knows that 1st Edition tends to make up a VERY small percentage of the print run. It is meant merely for collectors. Unlimited cards (the EXACT SAME CARDS save for the '1st edition' written on the bottom right of the card) will be availabl for a LONG time - in YGO you can still buy unlimited packs of EVERY SET.

Thanks for the clarification on the matter. You see here in Australia we tend to get forgotten when it comes to CCG's and TCG's.

Yu-Gi Oh! is popular here but it was like six or so months after the game was released before it ever hit our stores (my area anyway).

I just don't want to start buying and then find out I have no way of completling a first Edition run.

our first venue jsut recieved them today, only place in town that has them till wensday and they are gouging people at 4.50 a pack! what thats like a 100 percent markup! guess i can wait till wensday and deal with a resonable store.

You're telling us a professional store in your area is selling Marvel at $4.50 a pack?? You should seriously never purchase anything from them again and try to put them out of business. That is straight up robbery and everyone in your area should say something.

Wow... $4.50 a pack... that's a little early for what I call "The Pokemon Effect".

Actually 100 percent mark up is reasonable! And until all the online stuff started happening that was the standard mark up on game stuff and comics. It takes a higher mark up on low volume stuff... like game stuff. Now let me step back for a second. 4.50 is high but if this guy paid extra for fast shipping or some other cost he may just be passing on the extra cost of getting them to you quickly.. or he may just be looking to make a fast buck. Let me tell you this the 3.49 cost per pack as the recommended cost is #### that is like a 75% mark up from the best distributor price I have seen. Stores get a better deal on GW products!

Yeah, but $4.50? That's a bit extreme.. All the stores down here, and we have like 5, are selling at $3.49 which is amazing. Especially considering I'd be willing pay up to $3.99. :cool:

Okay... Unlimited hasn't gone to print yet so you should still be able to get 1st Edition for the next few weeks.

As for the indicator I've been looking for on the booster boxes, the Unlimited version will have an Unlimited indicator on it. So the ones without it, are 1st Editions.

4 bucks i think is reasonable, and i know he didnt get them shipped fast since he didnt get them till the following monday after release. salright though the other venue got them in today and has them at 4 bucks, wich i can live with. bought a starter and 5 packs, not sure what the "good" cards are yet but pulled a foil dr doom unuiqe. wich was cool, friend of mine offered me a foil dark pheonix for him, might take him up on that offer.
