Just wondering why I keep seeing Yu-Gi-Oh references everywhere? Have we adopted old Yu-Gi-Oh players or something? I'm coming from magic but i try not to reference it. Plus its insulting to compare this game with Yu-Gi-Oh. I've played the game and sadly it was lacking after playing magic so many years. This is one of the few games that i think could stand on teh same Level as magic. Just curious..thats all.
I do agree i unforntually have play both, magic was great but yugioh welll different story but anyway those are the games that are out now so it is easy to use them as refferences because people know how to use the abilites from the game..
The reason you keep seeing repeated yu gi oh references is that we are absorbing (hopefully) a great number of players from that game. Its popularity is huge, and the natural progression of players is from that type game (read: BASIC) to a more complex game. Generally speaking most posters are familiar with yu gi so it makes a good comparitive point.
I played magic for about 3 months a long time ago (at least 7 years). Now I'm a teacher in charge of games, so I know all about YuGiOh. There are comparisons. I mean, sometimes its easy to understand. I used YuGiOh as a tool to teach my kids, changing the rules where you laid traps and magic as resources, one a turn, and played monsters with stars as their recruit cost.
Anyhow, sometimes it helps to reference YuGiOh. I certainly don't mind Magic references or any other card game. If they bother you, ignore them.
Now, to compare rules to YuGiOh or Magic and try to make rulings based off these other games- Not so smart.
i would say the refernces are coming form the fact the game is from the same company as yugioh so their are going to be similarities on how the handle things with the game, like production tourney formats and general layout of things.
I believe it most ly has to do that when we were advertising VSRealms, we broadcasted it across the entire RealmWorx Network. That being said, 50% of all RealmWorx member reside at YuGiOhRealms.com. They go curious, came over, and that's that. ;) It may also have to do with the fact that Upper Deck produces both games, and people do tend to have some company loyalty.
