What is everyone finding the ratio of C/PT/E/L cards to be? Talking with some of the UD guys at GAMA, I was told that a 2:1 C/PT was a good starting point.
right now i say 30 c/e and 30 pt/l, with more c than e and more pt than l. in general, maybe something like this:
25 c
5 e
22 pt
8 l
of course it all depends on your deck theme/strategy. for example, my first sentinel deck has a wide variety of plot twists. why? so i can see and feel how they play out in a game to evaluate them. doesn't mean all of them will stay, but right now i have thought about how certain cards will play and i want to try my hand at different cards in the heat of battle.
Yeah, the best thing you can do is give yourself a starting point to build *something*, then play it out a bunch of times and see what you change. Personally, I just started with a 30/30 split characters vs. everything else, and with each playtest, learned what could go and what could stay and actually ended up real close to somebody's numbers above....
Depending on the deck type, you will play more locations, or plot twists, or equipment. For instance, the FF deck I am playing has 30 characters, 5 locations, 15 equipment, and 10 plot twists. On the other hand, my buddy's DOOM deck has almost 20 plot twists and very little equipment and locations. We have found that Xmen and Brotherhood decks are more balanced than FF and DOOM decks, but Sentinel decks are more character heavy, relying less on equipment and only use a couple of locations and plot twists.
This is based on the Brotherhood and X-Men Teams. Like most of the folks that has already posted to this trend, I would have to agree that it all depends on the type of deck you are going to be building.
Upper Deck has spent tons and tons of time in making this game. So, using them as a template would not be all that bad. Like any other TCG, it also depends on your eniviroment.
I usually have 30-35 characters, and 12-16 plot twists and Locations are only needed if your decks goal utilizes them. Equipment is nice, especially Dual Side Arms. I love that card so much.
You want every card in your deck to count, so everytime you put a face down charcter in your resource row it is a little bit of a waste. Right now I have 35 characters and 5 equipments. Then 20 of mixed plot twists and locations. I have noticed that with this ratio I am still playing characters in my resource row, but I am playing an X-men deck so I need the abundance of characters for discarding. Still, if I had it perfect I would never have to put a character or equipment card in my resource row. So I am going to shrink down the characters a bit. Since I have multiple Cerebros now getting characters wont be as much of a problem.
