I played in my first tournament at my local shop and had a blast. We all had a great time but I found one thing disturbing. The 50 min rounds seem very short. Only one game played actually finished before time was called. It reached the point when on game three we had people taking initiative doing a little bit of damage and then winning the round.
I know we are all new at this game but we have all played Marvel and many of us are old hats at Magic so we understand how to play cards. Are the rest of you folks having similar issues or are we just a little slow here in Tulsa.
We are making every attempt to play by the strictest tournament rules that are out. If upper deck is going to hand out huge prizes the least we can do is play by the rules
It usually takes me and my wife about 30 min. to play 1 game so a match actually would take an hour and a half if it went to the third game. We know these decks we are play too. We are also experienced Magic players. The game, although ending around turn 6 or 8, takes a while to play.
Yeah it was the Saturday night game. We played constructed. Sorry to hear that the rules got buggered up. I know that why we were playing we were still getting the official rules down. The timing for round 3 is very important. We looked up and found a good answer for Toad.
What were some of the ruling mistakes?
I can see now why UD is holding of on some of the tournament rules just so we can get these down. We have a big magic following so we are all about playing it right.
I had a certain someone at the tournament arguing that my front row character could not attack a backrow character who had a stunned character in front of them.
There was also this whole scene over the use of Mutant Supremacy.
Well it sounds like they were wrong to me! I am all about making the shop a friendly place to play the game. if you could send me a pm and let me know more of the derails and who was doing what I can keep my eye's open and maybe help them out without anyone getting there feeling hurt.
Thanks for the info
How did the times go on Wednesday? Was there any problem getting things in on time or was time not that closely watched?
