The head Judge for Upperdeck So Cal (as well as playtester) came to the demo at Comics Toons n' Toys on Saturday and here are some tidbits (mostly for anyone wanting to play competitively, for $$$)

-The Vs. Pro Tour Qualifiers (for GenCon) for So Cal will be on May 29th at San Diego State University and the week after at Long Beach State University. They are standard constructed tournaments and the top 2 finishers will have invites to play in the first Pro tournament at GenCon (oooh, "invites." What is this, the Masters??). Winner of
the tournament also gets a booster box.

-Playtesters will also be allowed to play in the Pro Tour. These are mostly the top CCG/TCG players in the world that have contributed to the game design. UDE wants prestige right away so having these players will help make the game "legit." I know this sucks for us as they have a HUGE leg up on us (if they already don't with their Pro status in other games), but what can you do? Oh, and I think some of
them got "sets" (like multiple) from UDE to get started (for FREE!).

-They have already planned out (or made) the next 2-3 years worth of expansions. They are currently working on the Teen Titans expansion.

That's awesome stuff... cept the whole Playtester thing... guess it just gives us more reason to train harder... that's one serious advantage.

Hey, when are you guys doing another demo/tourney? I wanted to come this past wknd but I was sick as a dog and didn't really want to make the trip from Rivy to TNT heh.

Excellent news. I live close to Long Beach State and will hopefully have the time to participate.

Well, people will be playing on the Saturdays that they have Heroclix tournaments, since it is the same crowd. The next HC tournament will be April 23rd, so you can stop by then. They will also start running unsanctioned tournaments soon, so I will keep you updated.

If you guys don't mind a drive down to Laguna Hills, we can set up some type of unsanctioned tourney to get you guys practicing.

We can run a constructed one. They already run draft and sealed almost daily there so I'm sure some of them would be down for a constructed tournament.

Probably only 8-12 guys at first but it's good practice since the qualifiers are less than 2 months away and you need to catch up to the playtesters. And it's always good to play against guys you've never played before.
