I've noticed alot of talk about four Cosmic Rays, for example or if you prefer, four Prof X.(World Greatest Telepath) in a deck. Exactly how many packs/boxes do you need to buy to get to this state? I've bought about 20 packs and only have one of each. Am I just pulling pathetically, or is it time for me to swear allegiance to either X-Men, Doom, or FF and trade off the excess?

well, if you buy a box you will get a total of 24 (edit: changed from the 48 typo) rares (on average). i have bought two boxes, and don't have a single cosmic rays or worlds greatest telepath. i am getting two more boxes today, and will likely see one or both of those cards. but in order to get 4 of a rare you will most likely either trade, or get a min of 6 boxes, and even then you might not get 3-4 of the rare(s) you want.

i bought a box and got like 26 rares. lol

Just curious if you any of you intend on buying until you have the cards you need or buying up to a point and then playing sealeds/drafts to bolster the collection and to try that format?

Well with someting like 77 rares in this set and an average of about 28 rares per booster box, it can be a challenge to get sets of 4 of any given rare at this point in the game.

I think your best bet would be to pick a team and work on getting their rares through trades with people playing other teams. Unless of course you have tons of loose cash and are willing to buy 5 or so booster boxes all on your own. UDE really wasn't kidding when they labeled VS a TCG. :p

yeah, i don't plan on buying more than four boxes (for Marvel Origins). and with all the foils i get i shouldn't have too much trouble if i want to trade them for non-foil rares i need. the problem is that i am as much a collector as a player, and i don't want to part with any of my foils that i don't have duplicates of! :eek:

i do want at least one of every card in the set though. :ermm:

I can get boxes for about $65 including shipping. I'm thinking I might buy one(more) box. I'm not sure. I really wanted to play a Sentinel deck also, but only have about 13 Characters with 1 Master Mold. I'm sure you have more. I do have Micro Sentinels though. What forum do you go to to trade?
