Comic Connection will be hosting their second PCQ on July 17th at the Ft. Lauderdale Conference Center. For those of you who may have attended our Yu-Gi-Oh Regionals, this is the same location. Directions and contact information for the Conference Center can be found at our website www.comiccon.com . Just click on the link under the location for the event. Please check the information on our website for the starting time as we will be starting earlier than the previous one. We hope to see many of you there.
Comic Connection will be holding its Marvel Pro Circuit Qualifier on July 17th, 2004.
The event will be held at the Fort Lauderdale North Hotel & Conference Center (4900 Powerline Rd, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl 33309). The phone number of the hotel is (954) 776-4880.
Costs for the event are as follows:
Sealed Deck - $25
Constructed - $20
At this point, I BELIEVE that registration will begin at 9am and will we start the tournament at 11am. I promise all of you that I will get confirmation of those times from the Tournament Organizer ASAP.
So far as I'm aware, we will have three judges for the PCQ; Mr. Brian Elwell, Mr. Bryan Camereno, and myself.
Some of you might think that this post is a little premature, but I would like to give everyone advance notice of the event so you can all adjust your schedules accordingly (if need be).
As I receive more info or updates I will pass that on to all of you as well.
For more information you can always go to our website www.comiccon.com
Or you can call the store at (954) 973-0703.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing all of you there.
I wish I had taken my own advice and checked our website first...it has the CORRECT times for the events. I blame Mr. Brian Elwell for maintaining such a timely, efficient website (he's such a know-it-all)
OK everybody, here are the times:
9am - 10am
Sealed event registration
10:15am
Sealed event begins
<Hopefully, after 3rd round of Sealed>
1:30pm-2:30pm
Constructed event registration
2:45pm
Constructed event begins
As far as I understand, for those of you staying in the Sealed event, we will have a 40 minute break after the the 3rd round of Sealed.
For those of you in the Constructed format, we will have a 1 hour break after the 2nd round of Constructed.
For those of you in the Constructed format, we will have a 1 hour break after the 2nd round of Constructed
I would receomend not having a break. The tournament will run late enough as it is. If you get a good turn out (33+) you are looking at a 12:30 - 1:00 am finals as it is without the break.
A break is necessary. Your organizers didn't have a break in knoxville and it was extremely unpleasant. Alot of people who were starving were upset that there wasn't a break. Most competitors WANT a break halfway through for food...
Who care's how late the thing goes, we're there to play and have a good time, and part of that includes the necessary human function of eating dead animals and foraged vegatables...
So, please tournament organizers, HAVE A BREAK at your PCQ!!!
Otherwise you may get folks eating limbs off of each other. Plus, hungry people are irratable, and you wouldn't like me when I'm angry... lol
Well, I do for one. My day starts at 7:00 am on the day of a PCQ, sometimes earlier. By the time Midnight rolls arround, I've been on my feet for almost 17 hours. For those just playing constructed, their day doesn't start until 1 or 2 pm.
Personally I've never been to a PCQ or PTQ where there was a break.
For the 64 people who have already viewed my initial post, you may have noticed that I edited out the info about the "warm-up" Marvel tournament on the 10th of July.
I spoke with the Tournament Organizer and he seems to be having scheduling conflicts...in other words no warm-up tournament for the 10th of July.
Sorry about that folks, but we still look forward to seeing you all on the 17th.
Please check our website www.comiccon.com for updated information; I'll try to make sure you realms members know what's going on.
I personally can't wait for this one. I didnt do so well last time around. I have not decided whether I will play in it or judge one of the events instead.
This info isn't going to change at the last second is it? jk :p
I'm going into this PCQ fully prepared. I've been testing for the best deck for a while and now that I've chosen the right deck I'm going to spend the weeks leading up to this PCQ fine tuning it to perfection. This is gonna be good.
Does anybody know if DC Origins will be legal at this event? The set should have been out a week by the time of the PCQ, and it might make it even more interesting.

Don't listen to him! We don't want a break! We can eat our Vs. cards. If you have a break, then start both tournaments at 9AM in the morning! That would solve everything!
