i dont get this card people use bastion to power-up people and stun them but why dont you just power-up bastion and attack and cause breakthrew damage? i just dont get it can someone explain please
Well if one of your opponent's characters are stunned, that's one less guy they're gonna have at the end of the turn. The problem with trying too cause Breakthrough is that just a simple reinforcement can stop it. So if you want, stun them, THEN cause the big b.d.
because you won't always have initiative. Say you're on turn 6, your opponent is playing first, and in a position to deal huge breakthrough to one of your Wilds. You just use Bastion to jack them up, and pop them with Overload. Now your WS is safe, Bastion is unharmed, and can counter-attack when your opponent is finished.
Overload is just an overall great card. Everyone pumps their characters up. Its like punishment for trying to go crazy on the pump. You can even use your own Flying Kick, Savage Beatdown, etc to put the over the edge and Overload'em. Someone on another thread even pointed out you can declare an attack, use your own Nasty Surprise on their defender, overload them, and your attacker readies since theres no target! Usually after people fall victim to a couple overloads, they start to see how great it is.
Overload shines when in the right hands..
I like to pop 4 in my XDreams deck..
Surves 2 purposes, 1.) Offensive, pump up my opponents attacker with things like Savage, Flying Kick etc.. Then pop the attacker with overload. 2.) Opponents about to stun one of my characters, and there's nothing to counter with. Nasty surprise, and pop my own defender with overload.
(Can't afford to have any stunned characters and risk not getting a dream counter now can we? lol)
Not to mention some annoying weenies, with like 3 attack.. Something like JUST flying kick by itself + overload pops them early game.. Free ko..
I'm really sorry if this sounds noobish, but I just started playing a few days ago and still trying to pick up on everything. I was looking at Overload tonight, and if I understand this card corectly, you use it to stun a given opponents card correct? Say your opponent has a card with 7 atk, so you use overload on him with an attack of 14? Do you use the card in conjunction with another card you have on the field, or is this card used on it's own? If used on it's own, you do breakthrough with it?

to use overload the attack has to be greater then twice the printed value, so an attack of 7 they would have to be pumped to 15+ to be overloaded. Usually you will have to use it with another pump to push them over the limit,I.E. Flying kick, savage beatdown, nasty surprise, etc....
i like to attack a character, use nasty surprise, and then overload them. my character is readied and willing to attack again, even if its a crappy character attacking.
also, if some one is team attacking you, you can pump up the attack of one character and pull that one out of attack and close line the other.:devious:
