Well, the game is a little intimidating to those that have never played a TCG/CCG before. However, it is definitely possible for someone like that to still learn and enjoy playing the VS System TCG.
It seems to be geared to draw in comic book readers too, much like Overpower was. So, I guess time (and a few well placed participant surveys) will tell.
i think vs is still suffering from overpower and previous attempts that left shop owners holding the bag so to speak, and that is keeping them from even trying out vs in most cases, much less helping to make it accessible to new players.
in every store that i have been in since vs was released, if they carry it they have nothing but good things to say about how good the sales have been for it.
but the stores that don't carry it are pretty adamant about not carrying it, some to the point of not even ordering it as a special order for a customer!!
upper deck needs to help boost the positve side of advertising, and increase it's support of their product.
an easier to arrange tournament structure could be a great place to start.
decipher used a solid system for years back on star wars, and i used to run events for that, so i am speaking from experience on how smooth it was.
so far it has been a nightmare to get official sanctioning for any vs events, and that doesn't help us players to build a stronger play community.
i agree with you tchalla. the one comic shop isn't suppling a lot of VS. they got one booster box in and i bought half of it and my friend bought the other half. we were discussing it with some of the people that work htere and they were all like is it better than overpower.
we should them all the cards and how we felt about the game and they seemed interested but have yet to restoke. i've played magic since the revised edition, and i quite playing magic when mirrodin came and now i've started playing VS. i'm as addicted to VS as i was to magic. Just this time i have job.
i definately think they should do something about the tournaments. also being able to sign up.
