As i look out at the projected expansion possibilities and listen to concerns of some. not everyone is a hardcore Batman or Xmen fan, some might wait for an indefinite period of time before or if they might see a lesser team or character of their own appeal. The Spidey starter coming out early was cool, but what if you could take two that might not have the capasity to hold their own expansion or to give more varity. Don't release them in the expansion so obviously if you wanted a Defenders/Dormammu team you'd have to buy the starter then you'd only have to add a few flavor cards in the expansion to give the team more options. then the expansion could be devoted to other teams with a mix of characters that could be placed with existing teams. then every starter and booster would be very important to someone. just a thought. what does everyone think?

one i spelled "capacity" wrong. to kinda cement what i stated, teams like the Brood,skrulls,kree, shiar, titans would be perfect for this concept. they only have a couple heavy hitters and have limited options. so instead of taking 4 years to get a Skrull team have a Kree/Skrull starter with all the characters you can come up with then add a couple in the expansions hear or there. Super Skrull vs Ronan the accuser as the 7 drop foil. then have Supreme Intelligence and the Skrull Emperor as flavor in the following expansion. just thoughts.

Yeah, but then we wouldn't have to spend all of our money on booster packs, trying to get the cards for the team that we want. UD likes making money, so I doubt this would ever be something that they would consider.

While I would like to see an Infinity Watch or Legion of Substitute Heroes team (The former I like, the latter may be fun to play), putting them out as the featured characters in a starter deck doesn't make good business sense.
The idea isn't to appeal to someone, but to appeal to as many people as possible. Obscure teams/characters don't work. If they invest $$$ into producing starter decks that don't sell, the game begins to lose money, and money losers don't stay in the marketplace.
If they put some card in the starter that is exclusive to the starter, then people may feel that they are being steered towards having to buy them, breeding possible resentment in the customer base.
On the other hand, if they include lesser known characters/teams in boosters, who cares? There are surely people who would rather have pulled card "X" instead of "Y" from a booster, but this is always the case. The complaints about the rare pulled in a pack being Super-Skrull as opposed to Wolverine: New FF are lesser in both quantity and vehemence than the ones about having to buy a starter to get a card.
Though it may take a bit longer for some teams to develop, the boosters are the best place for these obscure characters.

maybe there could be "Greatest Battles" starters? like X-Factor vs The four horsemen, or X-men vs the Marauders, again Kree vs Skrull.

I don't think that the idea is completely out of the picture, but it would likely be some sort of holiday gift set, not a Starter Deck per se.

WWE Raw Deal does this every year and the sets are very popular, and considering that hard core players would need four copies of the set, the financial model is there.

On the other hand, UDE has stated that there will be no Super-Rare, Ultra-Rare or functionally unique promos for VS. (a la Magic) and I figure that this idea would fall under that umbrella.

I, Myself.. would want to see like a Generation X vs. Emplate's gang.. it could be... Kindled Spirits and Supping Supers.. or something.. Which, I think would be good because we could have over 5 versions of husk.. Husk Metal, Diamond, etc... And have Emplate's gang with Murmur... Vincente.. etc.. which would probably make people want to go and study on em.

i like that idea for Husk. whatever different form could be the version, and Husk: Paige Guthrie could be, say, a weak 1 drop that you could KO or return to your hand to search for a Husk.
