I played in Saturday's win a box tournament with a very poor deck I threw together without enough good cards to actually make anything decent. Went 1-2 and dropped.
I have to say, Upper Deck seemed very disorganized as far as their tournaments, the people at the tournament table were not especially friendly, everything took 5 times as long as it should have, and in retrospect, I can't believe I paid $12 just to enter a constructed deck tournament.
I am definitely less excited about VS than I was before this convention - I didn't even bother trying to play in any booster drafts, and I don't think I'll be going to any other tournaments. I'll probably just buy a few packs here and there to play with friends (as opposed to the 2 boxes of the first set I already have).
I was there. Played in the $10 K and a few of the smaller tourneys. I wasn't as involved as I had hoped though.
As far as the UD tournament table being disorganized, I'd have to agree (to a point) as far as the DC events go. It seemed that every flier and every worker at the booth had a different take on the events ("DC drafts might start at 4:00"... "no, at 6:00"... "You can sign up for DC by talking to her"... "We're not signing anyone up for DC now"...). This got pretty frustrating. As far as established Marvel events went though, I thought the tournament table was fairly helpful.
I did not arrive until Saturday and it went as well as expected considering they were running a 247 man 10K event and Yugioh Nationals at the same time. The rounds got off fairly quickly and it seemed reasonable to me. All of the people I played were nice and didn't run into any jerks. Sorry you had a bad first experience, but I would not give up so quickly. Maybe next time just try a local PCQ instead of a 10K event.
I was there.. went 3-5 after lading off the day losing 2 straight to Brotherhood Blitz. Highlights of my day was a game against Dr. DOOM that went to turn 22 (Wow, Gamma Bomb never hurt so good). I ended up pulling that one out. Then at the end of the day I faced off against stubarnes ... where he showed me first hand how he could draw 32 cards in 1 turn. That was NOT pretty. Overall, I had a great experience. It was great to meet everyone! I'll have pictures up later.
I played in the 10k tournament I had a lot of fun but i dropped out out after I was 1 and 3 to play Dc sealed. I got to expereince how bad it hurts may deck when two ka-Booms are played on the same turn against me when i was facing a Brotherhood deck, I got to experience a sudden death turn with life going into that turn only being one apart, and finally Kergillian and I played a fun match.
Also one of my most fun matches of the whole origins ad to be in the win a box tournament when I went 18 turns with my Doom deck vs his Doom / x-men. Gama Bombs were continueously exploding one after another. I was great but I finally lost to his Dreams card.

Oh man what a great game, if I would have left Onslaught in that build I would have been able to end it alot sooner, heck ending it period would have been nice, we didn't even get to finish our first game of the match! But that was definately the most fun I've had playing VS thus far. Can't wait for the pics!
I was there but I couldn't play in the $10k tourney. I did watch the finals.
I did meet some VSRealmers:
Ben/Kergillian: Didn't get the chance to talk to him more... he was playing non-stop and I was running around between my booth and the TCG Hall.
Tony/Typhon: Reminds me of an actor... I just don't know who. Big props to him because he got me into the DC draft with Mike Hummel. Thanks man!!
Rian/Stubarnes: The man... the myth.
Dylan/docx: I feel for you dude... all those VS demos must have been TIRRRIIINNNG!
... and a few others. I probably met or seen more of you but not knowing your VSRealms names made it hard to ID you guys!
UDE staff moments:
- Other than drafting DC with Mike Hummel, my other highlight was demoing one of my company's games to Matt Hyra. He beat me of course.
- Meeting Omeed and Alex at the same time. Before the Exhibit Hall opens I head over to the UDE booth to see who's there and Omeed is in casual clothes and Alex looks like he's 20 years old. I'm asking about other UDE guys and then I ask who they are... hehe... boy was I surprised.
- Meeting Danny Mandel... again. He was the guy who first demo'ed VS to me back at GenCon SoCal and got me hooked on the game but I didn't know who he was. So when I saw him at Origins I was gonna say 'Hi' and looked at his name tag and realized it was Danny.... figures... his demo was just as funny as his articles.
My only regret is that I will also be working at ComicCon, GC Indy and GC SoCal so I won't be able to play in any big VS events... but be afraid of me in DC Sealed/Draft... well... at least of my ugly face.
I went. Ended up only meeting one Realmer, who mostly lurks in the Deck Depot anyway. Did any of you guys at the $10K play a guy named J.R. Caudill, who ran a Mutant Nation Beatdown that threw in Negative Zone as an annoyance? It's not me, but there's a reason I ask.

My bad mojo rubbed off on you dude :P I got in your head. You were probably still thinking that you should've team attacked my Sabertooth at the end of game 2, than all would've been right in the world. :)

I played against at Jeremy that was running a Mutant Nation deck with Negative Zone. Dunno if that's the same person or not.
I'm probably going to have to go with no, because I remember the pairing specifically referring to J.R. Also, don't know about your guy, but he only ran Negative Zone outside the mutant theme, not Blastaar or Annihilus.
