Well, the DC: Origins is upon us (well, most of us) ... so lets get the Easter Egg hunt started. I don' t a lot of the physical cards in hand.. but I do know that the 2 Face has a foil varient on the flavor text. What else have you guys been able to figure out?
I don't know if they're really Easter Eggs, but The Demon: Etrigan's effect text is written in rhyme form which is really cool.
-The characters Thunder and Lightning have flavor text that continues from one to the other.
-Just naming the counter plot twist Fizzle was enough to get a laugh out of me.
Time for some DBase easter eggs! Whee!!!
(Ok, so they're not really easter eggs, but I was bored and just like to point out what people are oblivious to)
Gismo doesn't have his text typed in.
That's all for this edition of the VSRealms DBase easter eggs!
*Loud explosions and lots of smoke all around whilist I disappear so as I don't get caught in the random riot of VS system players that are being super annoyed by this one action-packed sentence*
Oh, and the TF-DS connection is kinda cheesy. It'd be especially more if you could wield both of 'em on one character.
This is not really an Easter Egg but a while back, cdaniel, zaxx, novastar, myself and some others get into a discussions on various threads regarding negating effects.
Most people use the term 'fizzle' from MtG terminology. But some argue that it should not apply in VS. Interestingly enough, cdaniel, pointed out that 'fizzle' is outdated and no longer used in MtG. And there were always comments like 'effects don't fizzle... they are negated' or 'it should be resolve without effect... not fizzle'.
Well... now with DC... PT effects CAN 'Fizzle'... heh. I wonder since the UDE team has many MtG vets on their staff, if they named that card as an inside joke.
One of the interesting things from the DC rules supplement they had at Origins. . . under 'Fizzle' they said (paraphrasing since I don't have the handout in front of me) "'Fizzle' is not a game term."
Also, Hawk and Dove's card art fits together to form one picture, Dove on the left, Hawk on the right.
Of course, Thunder and Lightning's card text forms the rhyme "Brothers that strike in a manner frightening... The roar of Thunder, the Crash of Lightning."
Not much of an egg, but I like the fact that the helicopter that's taking off from the Mountain Stronghold is landing on The Shrike.
Actually i believe that riddle on riddle me this flavor text "What has yellow skin and writes?" is a pencil [the standard, not modern mechanical ones].
The picture riddle i believe refers to bats. their blindness in daylight reflected in "by day they are lost" gave me a clue.
