This is MY Proposal. This seems to clear up any "Gotcha" type effects. I really don't like this, but it's definitely better than it being ruled this way when you don't expect it to be.
During the resource step you either put any one card from your hand into your resource row face down as a resource OR You announce you aren't playing a resource this turn.
If you do play a resource, you place it to the right of the last resource you put into play. Any characters or equipment placed into the resource row may never be turned face up.
People just need 2 get there game play up 2 a better lvl ya know. Its like in magic if you were 2 go into your end of turn then cast a spell then say opps i want 2 go back 2 attacks ok??? You gain information by how your opponent responds when you dont drop that resorce ect so there should be no take backs imo...
What magpie said. The rules are just fine. They are right there for everybody to read and they should be strictly enforced. If they continue with this relaxed enforcement of rules, it will only result in sloppier play and more mistakes to be ruled on. If they go the stricter route like I think that they should and give players no mercy when they make a mistake, it will make the players play tighter games and be very clear about what they are doing and what step it is. This will result in fewer mistakes and violations that need the judge's attention.
I believe they are going to continue to rule the way they did at the 10K. I think the new wording I propose makes it so it will be ruled the way they want it ruled.
I don't agree with the way they want it ruled, but they do need to reword it so it will be ruled consistently.
403.1 As a player's resource step starts, that player may build a resource by putting
one card from his or her hand face down into his or her resource row, and then any
powers or modifiers that trigger at the start of the resource step are added to the
chain. Then the primary player gets priority.
This way, the primary player has priority. And, if they pass priority without playing a resource, then you pass priority without doing anything, then it's the same as them "announcing that they aren't playing a resource this turn.
Dude tried to play Feral Rage with 3 resources in play. They let him back up and play a 4th resource then play the Feral Rage. BTW this was in the Finals.
This is what UDE wants. Therefore, I think the Resource Step rule should be re-written.
That's not necessarily what UDE wants, I think. That judge just gave the guy a break (for some reason or another).
Your rewording of the resource step rules wouldn't change anything. In an actual game, players are supposed to announce that they pass priority. So, on two consecutive passes on an empty chain, the phase ends.
On a side note, I've never forgotten to play a resource.
Originally posted by Latuki Joe Its one of those mistake that EVERYONE makes. EVERYONE, now again, will forget to drop a resource in a heavy rush to set up.
...BUT, on such high levels of play, mistakes deserves consequences.
I am pretty sure UDE will change their stance before the Pro Circuit rolls around or else they will be in a world of trouble. They've obviously had too many inexperienced players playing at big money events (where they probably shouldn't be in the first place if they aren't prepared for serious competition) complaining that rules are being enforced so strictly. Now they are gonna have a boatload of pro players complaining about them allowing players who don't know the rules as well to essentially cheat by getting free "takebacks" on optional actions. It is a PRO circuit after all and it should be taken seriously.
Well I was there t the end of the 10k at Origins...it ws like 4am. Alex Charsky was judging it so I am pretty sure he knew what he was doing. Being that they had been playing for close to 15-16 hours maybe he thought they needed a break and cut the guy some slack.
