When Typhon and crew went to Origins a few weeks back and slowly updated the DC Cardlist long into the night and early morning. I read every single card, re-read it, re-re-read it, and tryed to base each team in a certain category.
At first glance i didn't think the teams were all that desirable except maybe GK.. Not thinking much of it, i still went and preordered a box online, As i was excited about a new set for my favorite game (Vs.. D'uh!! :)).
The box arrived through the mail sometime today, DC hasn't been released in my area yet, but still some people i know also preordered a box or two. We decided to get together (About me and 4-5 other people) for a little 'introduction to DC' play testing, We cracked open our packs and got to deck building and playing.. At first i didn't realize just how sexy this set was, but as the night winded down i started to realize how many different decks we had allready come up with..
DC has exceeded beyond my expectations, I beleave (Well in my personal opinion anyways) that this set > DC Origins (Yes i know it's the same game, but i beleave this set to be a tad bit more funner).
Whether it was the whacky new keywords, The new win condition, Huge choice of armys to choose from, new archtypes, or just new styles of gameplay goodness (Countering PT's with Fizzle, Complete location control with LoA Real Estate w/ Have A Blast!, The works!)
I can happily say, I'm very pleased with this set. Especially the box pull ratio's. (No double rares in packs, no 'no shows' in packs, a nice balance of foil rare to nf rare ratio etc..)
Anyhow that's my 2 Cents. How's everyone else feel about DC so far (That has actually played with it)?
An influx of new cards to the pool have diversified the field enough that anything is possible
Plus I have been playtesting the DC teams against Big Brotherhood and Blitz
Ras is the man against these location heavy decks
Gothom Knights are not to far behind
I had high expectations of Teen Titans but at this point in time I feel they are to inconsistent
Arkham Arkham Arkham what can I say they play very different Black gate will be underated but definately will be used its like exchaning endurance for cards to some extent
Cant wait to try out my Magneto/Dick Grayson deck w/ longshot to do the dirty work. Theirs 4 versions of Dick giving you 16 cards in your deck to name with longshot. Heck just go Grayson and Wolverine and your set
I think I'm as excited about DC as everyone else, but I haven't gotten my boxes yet. Should get them in the mail today though, and I've been working out on paper a Teen Titans deck I wanted to build. So of course your caomment about the titans decks caught my attention CaptainCarl. Would you mind going into a little detail about why you feel the Titans are too inconsistent? On paper these guys look like bombs. Thanks.
I'd suggest picking up some basic Marvel cards in addition to your DC set... cards like Flying Kick, Acrobatic Dodge, Swift Escape, Suprise Attack, Nasty Suprise, Backfire, Burn Rubber, Dual Sidearms, Jetpack, Overload, Not So Fast, Team Tactics... they're all non-rare, so they shouldn't be too hard to find. I recommend mixing in order to get needed results.
After that, you MIGHT want to look into Savage Beatdown, Blind Sided, Betrayl, Salvage.... They're rares, though.
