After installing MTGPlay and all the of the patches, I tried installing VSed -- unfortunately, I ran in to a problem. An error window pops up when I try to run it saying:
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0x660 (1632), Thread id=0x664(1636)
I uninstalled VSed and re-installed, but received the same problem.
Any suggestions on getting VSed working?
[edit]
In addition, the Process ID and Thread ID values change each time I try running it.
I have the latest MDAC.exe and .NET exe and am running WinXP w/ all critical upgrades.
I would try to start over from scratch. Uninstall and delete all the MTGPlay and VSed directories. Then install MTGPlay and patch it, and add all the cards to it. Then install either one of the VSed's. I just did that again to see if I could duplicate the error to no avail.
I am running Windows XP with all service packs and updates applied to it. /shrug
I have heard from at least 2 different people that multiple uninstalling reinstalling has fixed this. I am guessing people are missing a step or something happened initially to corrupt the install. If you uninstall and THEN delete both the MTGPlay and VSed directories, it really should be working.
For those getting runtime errors, do you have other programs that crash relatively often? Internet Explorer or Office applications crashing, or general protection faults that occur every now and then under normal computer use?
I've tried the delete and reinstall several times, but to no avail.
Under normal use, I almsot never get any crash or gpf errors, and I take pretty good of my computer (run adaware on a regular basis, virus scans, no installation of unnecessary programs, lots of cookie blocking, etc) so I'm not sure why I'd be getting this problem.
I guess my only recourse at this point is to format a spare HD, install XP and install VSed on to that drive.
I have the same Problem here...i've got alle the updates + other .NET Framework apps work perfectly for me. At this point i can only guess that this has something to do with the fact that my windows dir is not on drive c: and that the installer can't handle this. If someone who is able to run this program with windows on another drive then C: plz leave a message :)
May be a none installer version would help.
Bye
I was almost positive that we made it so that the install path was selectable with the DC release of VSed, but apparently not. Please accept my apologies for stupidly assuming it was such.
If anyone wants the latest build of VSed to try out, just send me a PM. I don't normally want to make a habit of this, just because of the headache involved. However, since it seems that those of you with "unstandard" drive configurations are hitting a showstopper, I'll send you the newest build. It's super stable, but I am still testing it in prepraration for the Web of Spider-man release. You shouldn't have any problems. There will also be alot of new features no one else gets to see until Spider-man is out (not including Spider-man edition cards, obviously those have not been fully spoiled yet) ... but don't go telling everyone. If I wake up tommorow with 100 PM's asking for the new version no one gets one until we officially release =)
