Howdy Everyone,
I preordered 5 boxes of DC Origins and one of them was a God Box. 5 to 6 rares in a pack (6 if the foil was a rare). Just needed to share it cause I am just too happy.
P.S. To anyone from Upper Deck - I love you guys. You guys are awesome. If this game stays as great as the first two sets have been you are in for an amazing future.
I don't think its an error. I remember reading a thread awhile back where someone quoted a designer saying something like the Riddler may have done something at the production lines. Thus hinting that the boxes that contained 5 rares per pack were intentional. I'll search for it in a sec and link to it.
EDIT: Here you guys go. Its the 7th post on this thread. Oh yea, and I forgot to say Congrats to the lucky person who got the God Box. I hope to get one some day.. :ermm:
God Boxes must be extremely hard to come by. This is my first between my best friend and myself - we have opened in total 13 boxes of 1st Edition Marvel Origins and 10 boxes so far of DC Origins. So our stats are 1 in 23 boxes.
I dunno, Im not entirely sure why UDE would purposely create "god boxes".
can anyone venture a guess?
I mean I dont think it is business savy in the long run. Sure some people get lucky, but at the same time, they run the risk of alienating the other gamers who are horribly jealous and have to spend copious amounts of money to get the cards they need. Just a thought ^^;
If they do it purpously, it's awesome for business, to them printing those cards cost pennies, then people who get god boxes tell other people and in return more people buy boxes in hope of finding those god boxes. The odds of getting one are hard enough that majority of the people who get god boxes, will keep buying boxes in hope of getting another.
Think of it like this, it's not beneficial for the lottery if someone wins.. but they make so much profit of people buying the tickets alone, it's a profit.
And Tama, i saw the same guy open 2 god boxes in front of me, its possible! ;)
Yeah I remember that too Fish. Seeing someone get 5 Savage Beatdowns from one box was amazing.
I've seen a total of 4 lucky people get a god box. This is done on purpose for pretty much the reasons that Fish said, it really puts a spark into people to make them want to buy more boxes in hopes of getting one.
It's kind of sad though that the person who got the 2 god boxes had already collected all the cards he had needed for the game, so it was sort of pointless for him to get the box instead of someone more deserving. That's why I felt it good that the next person I saw get one was a little kid who had been saving up for a while to purchase a box. Boy did he get his money's worth.
I've yet to see a DC god box, but I'm sure one will pop up sooner or later. I never get boxes so I know I won't be getting it, but I hope someone who needs it gets it rather than someone who already has the entire set.
