Magic has been around for 10+ years now. It is the top selling CCG. It has the most players. In my opinion, Magic players make great VS players when they come to see the light (I used to play Magic). I am tired of all the YGO vs VS talk - in my opinion I see YGO as a slowly passing fad while VS has a future (possibly as bright as Magic's future was). What do you fellow VSRealm'ers want to say about Magic vs VS? Compare, fight, rip apart, whatever - just no more YGO talk!!!
well, what bothers me for the moment in VS is the lack of real good combo deck...the thing is, combo decks in magic tend to be degenerate, and I don't think we will ever see degenerate cards in VS...
also, what I dislike, is the all-importance of the curve: I think if you had to choose between a big (stats-wise) character and a smaller one with some powers, most of the time you would choose the big one; above all when this is an activated power that would prevent you from attacking...a card like madame web looks nice at first, but when I played her, I used her power something like, twice, for almost no gain, and I would rather have had an attacker...ok she can still do some damage if she attacks...
anyway, I still love playing the game...
I've been playing Magic for 2 years, and I love the game. One of the only problem I see with VS is the amount of YGO players coming to play, and they can't understand the stack  , every single game I play in a tournament seems to be explaing the stack. Also in Magic there are the tried and true colors. In VS you will see a lot of Team affiliations.
Both games are great, but I believe Magic is better.
The abundance of teams is my only concern. It's similar to if Magic had 100 colors.
Abundance doesn't bother me--it's more the lack of variety. Each team only has about three guys at each cost, and the game is constructed so that you have to play a guy at every cost. So teams that have a couple weak costs, such as X-Men, get the shaft.
as far mechanics go- i likeVS, from the team affiliations, the shared turns with initaitve, the back and front row, the targeting defenders, Vs has a great engine that with work- more cards and options- could make it THE BEST game.
but it is not there yet, quite simply magic has way more options and cards to choose from, so as of right now, VS is behind, but i believe that when we discuss this debate in the next couple of years, VS will come out on top
When looking at the variety Magic does come out on top with its card pool. I think that VS does have the best engine out right now and I hope this does not become a combo game like YGO or MTG. I like the stratgy that is needed to play VS. Should i put this guy in the front this turn or the back, should i use my PT now or save it for next turn when i can do this too. VS needs more cards yes but they are coming soon enough and with a bigger card pool we will see more decks and stratagies and a bigger community.
