Iīve been reading a lot about the DK on the internet and not ANY of it was good.
Everybody says that he is too weak for a drop 7. "Weīll never get that many cards" they say.
So, I rebelled. Becaus I love the big batsy. He is yet to dissapoint me.
I have never dropped him on a 7 where he wasnīt at least 14/14 (isnīt that the expectet ATK/DEF)
This said I donīt have any Barbara Gordon, but she draws two cards each turn on the expense of 1 resource right? That would bring my 7 card, turn 7 hand up to 17 cards if I pick her on a turn 1 batsignal.
Also Alfred (whom I currently use one of) Will ensure an even faster draw.
I donīt use museum heist.... four of those in the deck well...
Yes. I may not have much endurance left But on turn 7 my batman is by far the strongest character in the entire game.
Backed up correctly the card drawing strategy will pay of or so I am sure.
I would like to hear how you guys play your Dark Knight.
Also discuss him, as opposed to some of the other VS drop 7īs.
The difficulty with playing Batman TDK is that you can't just slip him into any deck. One way or another, a significant portion of the deck has to be built to abuse his traits, whether it's a draw engine or a multiple small-drop/army strategy.
That, and Overload, which really cramps my style when I don't have a NSF or Fizzle in hand.
Every other 7-drop in the game at least has powerful abilities and/or stats that are independent of other factors in the game, such as the number of cards in your hand. In the average game with an average deck, you'll probably have about 5 cards in hand, which would make Batman TDK a measly 12/12.
That said, I've enjoyed tremendous success with Batman TDK in my GK/TT team-up deck, which abuses Dynamic Duo, Teen Titans Go! and GCPD Headquarters to wipe the board clean of your opponent's characters. In turn 7, with a couple of TTGs and a few other characters in play, Batman TDK can easily grow to massive proportions, and if you manage to draw another TTG while you're drawing cards, you can make him even bigger.
My Batman TDK consistently hits stats of at least 22/22 and I have managed to get him past 30/30 a number of times. Comparing stats alone, he can crush anything else out there.
With Batman TDK out, my TTG might as well say "Draw X cards, where X is the number of characters you control." When I have over 20 cards in my hand, I'm pretty much impossible to stop. :)
I did much the same with a Gotham/Fantastic Four build.
utilized GCPD, Bullock, Gordon, combined with 1drop Invisible Woman, 2 drop Mr Fantastic, 3 drop Thing, and the DK.
The plan is to use GCPD and Valeria to create a mini Valeria lockdown, then once the DK hits. Cosmic Radiation like there is no tommorrow. I easily got him to 28 on turn 7. and with that many cards drawn, you almost always will have a fizzle, and draw the other Cosmics.
Yeah, I would be real scared of overload by turn seven. Escpecially with 20 cards in hand and seven resources set. Not to mention there are 8 cards that counter it. Blah, to everyone saying overload, blah.
Ultimate Evil - Eh... my own deck is still in development, so I'm not sure what you're missing, and I have no indication of what you're playing or playing against. Lemme see...
Mirage is my one-drop, though I added an Alfred for kicks. 2-drops would be Tim Drake (TT) and a couple of Barbara Gordons for extra card draw power. 3-drops, Huntress and Beast Boy. 4-drops, Batgirl and Terra (and a single Red Star). 5-drops, Batman, Garth and one Nightwing. 6-drops, 1 each of Superboy and Nightwing. 7-drop is Batman TDK, 8-drop is Superman.
I use USS Argus and Optitron to make sure I hit my drops and get what I need. I run 3 GCPD HQs and 4 each of Dynamic Duo and Teen Titans Go! Of course, 4 Brave and the Bold, helps with drawing and critical to maximizing TTG and DD.
Heroic Sacrifices, Savage Beatdowns, Acro Dodges, all in. A couple of Fizzles.
I put it together more for fun but I think it has potential as a serious deck, and Batman TDK is just one of many ways to abuse TTG in this particular build.
I agree that he's a powerful character, and he does have a great power, c'mon...tap a guy to draw a card is just plain awesome. If I hear another person say "he's a 7/7" one more time, i'm going to smack them...the only time he's a 7/7 is if you have no characters, no hand, and are too ignorant to scoop. He does need some backup, esp against overload, but...when you draw that many cards, you can find it with good consistancy. I personally think that the problem with this card is that GK don't have a strong enough way to abuse a large hand besides batman himself, you can't simply depend on him to swing for the win every game, unless you're hell-bent on it, with press the attack, blind sided, and other such goodies.
yeah obsidian hit it on the money, the DK by himself will get you no where, you need alot of little guys to draw the cards, and while the GPCD is a good card and they have good stalling synergy, they will not put the opponent into losing range by turn 7.
but that is where supes comes in, even if DK does not win, supes can play clean up.
Go Obsidian. Finally someone who doesnīt put TDK down.
I donīt have any Marvel Cards it has never been available in Denmark (trade with me!).
So all those nice Marvel cards like Acro Dodge and Savage Beatdown is not something I can use.
I do, however, have an complete collection of DC cards... So can I maximize using only those?
But like most have said, you have to build around that card. Its also wise to put only one in a deck this way you can bat signal for it when you know he will wreck face!
So far my record for 7 Batman was 20/20 on turn 7! Supes was after that so i had a 20/20 and a 19/19 on the field at one point.
I, too, was one of those people saying "But hes only a 7/7." He needs a deck that is build around him. Playing my GCPD/Batty deck I have been able to draw my entire deck by turn 8 or 9. The great thing is that I am often able to get to turn 8, 9, or 10 since the officers with the help of some other cards stall so well (I have even though about splashing a Dark Phoenix). I have seen my 7-Drop Batman as high as 38/38!!!
I'd say a great way to use him would be in a Teen Titans deck featuring Cops. However, the idea with the cops is not to build the deck around them, but rather simply use them to fill in when you can't quite meet your drop. Mix those with more solid drops such as Arsenal, Beast Boy, Hawk/Dove, Red Star, Terra, Garth, etc in order to get a decent curve. Then throw in some Alliances cards, TTG!, Dynamic Duo, and GCPD HQ, and you can have a real wrecking machine. (oh yeah, you could also throw in Bat Signals, Alfreds, and Bullock, and use Raven as alternate finisher... )
