________ Smoke Kills
Final top eight decklists for the pro circuit can be a bit misleading with the dual format. I posted the above decks so you can see what made the top spots out of 250+ people day one.
Considering there were 55 players at 5-2 or better and 16 at 6-1 or better, the top 8 doesn't mean they were the best decks there. The top 16 would provide the 6-1 or better decks, but for the sake of comparing the archetypes...
Here is the metagame breakdown. The first number is the total # of the deck being played. The second # is the total # of that deck with 5-2 or better the first day. The third # is the % of the decks that did well (5-2 or better)
It also shows that BBH was there in mass but didn't perform up to it's past success levels. So, the format seems to have finally balanced out a bit from the Brotherhood dominance from the pre-DC environment.
One additional thing to consider is WHO was playing which deck. I would hazard a guess that many of the CE decks were being piloted by very skilled players. This would undoubtedly lead to better finishes for the CE decks.
That could reflect the other direction as well, tho. Perhaps the 6 players who made day 2 using BBH were very experienced players and that is the only reason they overcame even tough matchups. That would make the BBH decks appear better than they actually were in the current environment.
That's only true if you assume that some bad players did well on day one with Common Enemy. It think it's safe to say that most of the players who made day 2 were 'good' players. But without knowing how many 'good' players were playing each deck, it's hard to read too much into these results.
It's clear Common Enemy performed the best. But even with this many players, there are too many variables we can't account for to put too much stock in these results, and say one deck is the best. I think most players are better off sticking to their own testing results to determine what deck to play, because in your own testing you have a controlled environment.

But testing in a controlled environment totally kills you when you step out into unfamiliar territory. Example : I haven't even seen a F4/GK deck, let alone played against one. I get that pairing and I go "omg, whats that?" I've got my controlled environment where I can dom a bunch of different decks but when push comes to shove, a god amongst insects will still snap crackle and pop under the glare of a magnifying glass.
