Just want to check on KOing characters. I can only recruit on empty chains right?

That means I couldn't, say, recruit Venom and have him eat Rhino or Tombstone before paying their cost right?

Similarly, with Devil's Due, I couldn't KO Doom 4 and then recruit Doom 6 and add the +1/1 to Doom 6.

Well I'm not sure about my answers but I'm pretty sure their right.

1.) It depends on when the cost has to be paid.

2.) No becaus Doom wouldn't be on the field to add the counter too when you play Devil's Due.

You might want to check on with someone else just to make sure I'm right.

Recruitment can only be done on an empty chain. For those cards that trigger at the start of the Recruit Step or Build Phase, those cards must resolve before you can recruit anything.

Each situation you presented is not possible.
