I saw that on the policy but I just can't believe that is true for constructed. Release date is around mid November. We really have something like three weeks to prepare for a 250k tournament?
And when the hell are the set releases going to slow down? Every two months seems a bit ridiculous! Great for retailers like me but bad for the game overall I think. Hell, Spiderman isn't even a relevant set for a lot of players already qued for Socal if Superman is going to be legal too.

I agree... and a whole lot of PCQs are on October 2nd, right after WoS is legal.
I think they are trying to catch up to their original schedule and lookin at Kerg's spoilers... it should slow down by next year with Marvel Knights and Emerald Knights.
But don't you think Spidey came just in time? I don't know about you but Marvel and DC is pretty much all worn out and people are aching for new cards.

Well, less than that. I believe the release day is the 17th (I could be wrong) and GenCon SoCal starts Dec 2. Assuming you are either traveling or preparing to travel on Dec 1st, and you used every waking moment to test, AND you could get all the cards from a local store the DAY it is released, you would have 13 days to test decks.
Well, here in the UK we only got DC product a scant month before the PC, so I guess this is something that I'm vaguely used to. By the sounds of it though, if the timings are that tight for the PC, then UDE are going to have to improve worldwide distribution. It seems ridiculous that it might not be possible for UK qualified players to get hold of the product before they got to the venue :ermm:
I'm sure this is the case for various other territories as well. Would be nice if we could get some kind of a statement on this. I don't really want to in effect be playing a prerelease for thousands of dollars!
I think that 3 sets a year is the best way to go. every 2 months is a bit draining. I know quite a few people who just dont have the cash flow to keep up.
I hate to go against the grain... no, that's a lie. I love to go against the grain, and I love this fast and furious pace. And I love the intensity of a metagame shift two weeks before the PC. I'm a freak.

I just thought of something and instead of edit my whole post I'll add it up here. The preview tournaments for Superman are Nov 13th. So the set will be known to everyone then. Just proxy like a madman and you can get 2 good weeks of playtesting. Draft will be a different story.
The metagame shift is fine as long as you guys have enough time to playtest. If the distribution continues to be west coast then moving east, the cali players will have anywhere from 2 days to a week head start on everyone.
Magic does this all the time. Pro Tours usually are the first PCQ or higher tournament for new sets.
