It's turn 6 I take advantage of my good friend franklin richards and drop Mr. Fantastic (7 drop) and then I pass priority to my opponent so that he may build. He drops 3 GCPD officer and Roy Harper giving him a total of 7 annoying characters...(Yes they're teamed up). Before I even get chance to declare an attack he begins exhausting characters in order to stun Mr. Fantastic. He decides to exhaust all 6 GCPD officers raising Roy Harper's Attack to 16 and then he activates Roy Harpers second effect to stun Mr. Fantastic. The question is when can I activate an overload or play Mystical paralysis on Dr. Doom in order to prevent this from happening? I don't get the timing on when I can chain to something like Roy Harpers effect. My opponent says that it can't be chained to because it his build phase and still his priority and their is no chain. That can't be correct..His effect should go on a chain thereby allowing me to play overload and take out Roy Harper before he takes out Mr. Fantastic. There has to be an opportunity for you to make the target illegal or make the move illegal.
Regardless of when you exhaust Roy Harper, the activated effect will always go on the chain, unless you find a way to stop the payment effect as in a.la Utility Belt.
Here's an example of one of your chains..
Roy now has 16 atk per se.. he activates his stunning effect on your Scientific Genius and you respond with Mystical Paralysis, exhausting Dr. Doom..and nothing else is put on the chain..chain resolves as follows..
The same thing goes if you activate Mystical Paralysis before he does, he'll simply respond with exhausting all his officers and using the activated effect to stun back.
The only real way as far as I know to stop it is to use Utility Belt.
O.k. so what if I was to use mystical paralysis on one the other TT cards before he exhausted it because you can't exhaust an exhausted card therefore he would only go as high as 14 and not 16. Could I do that and then play overload allowing him to only take out Dr. Doom before the overload facter goes off?

Exhausting a character is a cost for Roy's +2 ATK effect.
You cannot respond to, nor interfere with, the payment of costs as no one has priority at that time.
Even so, you don't get to play until after your opponent yields priority.
There is no direct action-for-action response in this game.

What if someone played the MP before you even though of exhuasting for the paymenyt power?
Example, my oppoents attack step first, he finishes all his attacks with only a 6 drop doom still ready and able to attack, he MPs in order to exhaust my Connor KEnt Superboy so i can't exhaust him to pay for his own power... does that mean i can still exhaust him to pay for his own power?

While the exhaust effect is on the chain waiting to resolve, you can perform any legal action including activating the target character or exhausting it as payment for an effect of your own.
dont wait for your opponent to exhaust half his field drop the overload on arsenal right away as soon as you he goes past double his attack or mystical paralysis him right away after the 1st exhaust to pump him -- what's he gonna do in response? sure he might take stun your big guy but you've effectively dealt with arsenal by stunning him back.
one thing i think some people need to see is that arsenal is only dangerous when he's got other people out with him. pick off the support characters, i'd rather attack formations and do a little breakthrough then waste all my resources going aftre arsenal personally
In Turn, i agree. The only way to fight Roy Harpers awesomeness is with a Ulility Belt. Or a "Power Compressor" which i still think is an awesome doom card.
even when you atk the other TT chars......you can still pump roy, if you MP roy, roy can pump himself, along with exhaust all the of chars..to pump and roy then could stun your big guy....so going after the other chars...isn't the best idea except you start to stun his other chars....but at the same time roy is getting bigger and he's able to stun your big char.....i think one of the best ways to deal with roy is to reign of terror roy, or other chars.....during your build step on turn 4 or during your oppts build step....that way he really doesn't have a way to pump roy, to make him big, or stun your big char........thats just an idea
