So, I was sitting here today thinking of all kinds of cool decks that would be fun to play. Then I started thinking about Doom and X-Men and Xavier's dream. I was figuring out some good ways to make a fun deck like that work (beast, latveria, mystical paralysis, muir island and the new siege perilous), and then I remember, oh wait, Have a Blast...
It seems to me that VS has some cool cards that let you come up with great strategies, but because the strategies are long and well planned and not hard and fast, they have no hope because of have a blast. Doesn't it seem like this card limits the game alot? I know no one will like this, but I thought that it would have been cool if they would have team stamped HaB, maybe given it to AI or something. I mean, then not everyone and their mom would play with it, and AI would be more competitive. I know alot of people will probably think thats dumb, but I seriously don't see how an Xavier's Dream deck (or even rigged elections) could win if the opponent could get just one have a blast. I mean ofcourse if you were playing with GK you could fizzle, but if you are not, then you are out of luck.
Its kind of swings and roundabouts with Have a Blast. The Rigged Elections deck is really really powerful even with Have a Blast looming large in the metagame. I don't really feel that HAB drastically restricts any strategies, more that it means that there is a reasonable line of resistance open to everyone against otherwise very hard to deal with threats.
Any character based strategy is able to be dealt with (at least in theory) as its vulnerability is that the characters themselves can be attacked. When the lynchpin of a given deck is an ongoing plot twist or location things get a lot trickier. There are various decks (both big and small brotherhood) that I believe restricted various strategies a great deal more, as various decks couldn't deal with the problem cards of the deck - locations and ongoing plot twists. Have a Blast is just a handy tool to keep decks that use strong locations and ongoing plot twists honest. They should be built expecting to face some resistance, which is what HAB provides. Its not like every deck out there plays it or is succeptible to it, but I do think it holds a valuable place.
That new MSM equipment card can be used in those type of decks(time 'something'). It cost 2 recruit points and can counter a non on-going plot twist. It gives you defense against such cards like HAB.

Acutally I am one hundred percent sure that UDE isn't only worrying about how dominating BH is. I'm sure BH isn't the only deck that's going to have good ongoing plot twists and locations.
