I'm here to discuss which of the two, Sonic Gun or Fear and Confusion is of most benefit in an Arkham Inmate deck.
Fear and Confusion
-Gives the attack bonus to everyone.
-Once an attack is declared the defender automatically exhausts [if attacker is AI]
-Lasts one turn.
-May be negated [fizzle, not so fast]
Sonic Gun
-May be used consecutive turns if you can protect the character it is attached to
-Cannot be negated [well, being an equipment]
-Attacker may be Controlled [see: Mystical Paralysis, Entangle, Puppet Master, Shocker]
-Second effect may be occasionally useful against a boosted scarerow/4 drop venom [is this a plus?]
-No attack bonus
I'm thinking sonic gun is new and nifty looking but Fear and confusion still has the edge [again in a AI deck]
I'd like to hear your comments though.
It depends on who gets a sonic gun; a Charaxes with a sonic gun is a deadly force, as is a Mr. Freeze w/ a sonic gun, but you don't want to use it for it's secondary ability, ever, in those cases. Also, Fear and Confusion has the added bonus of no attacks back, all around. Not to mention that there's also a lot of equipment hate out there, which could knock Sonic Gun down a couple notches. I think the AI would do best to mix them, and, if the mixing is in favor of one or the other, in favor of the Fear.
by no means does sonic gun replace F&C. However, it is still extremely useful. It just adds more exhaustion, as opposed to being a better exhaustion, which either would benefit arkham.
as for the secondary ability, i didn't even notice it was there untill i saw 5 drop spidey, and sandman (both of which i think are going to be popular)
Thank you, Kanga. That's what I was going to say. Run both. Sonic Gun complements the overall AI strategy anyhow, and having the ability to lower the ATK/DEF of a bunch of the newer characters is amazing.
And F&C is simply a defining AI card, and should be included in most builds for the crazy Inmates.
I have to say yes, as I run both Blackgate and Arkham in my build, mostly due to my usage of Harley with Fear and Confusion.
Attack with harley, exhaust your opponent's highest drop defender, stun harley with blackgate, draw a card, return harley to hand with arkham (or save arkham for a +2 attack), and if you return harley to your hand, you can then use her as a power-up on another attack.
