yeah, but it's much, much different than Lost City. For one thing, he still only gets 1/1 per power-up, just it stays around a lot longer. Obviously, the cards in your hand have to be Spider-Man himself. Also, the counter option only applies to this card, which is important to remember if you use Scarlet Spider.
Yeah, you power him up and for each power up you may put a +1 +1 counter on him instead of powering him up. The only drawback of course is that he loses all of the counters when he stuns, which happens more often than not.
Reread the text on Alien Symbiote. It states that when Spider-Man is stunned by a character the opponent controls, he loses the counters. Using Evasion is a perfectly valid method to keep counters on him.
I thought boosting was when you paid an extra recruit cost for an effect listed on the card. ;)
Assuming you're referring to giving him bonuses, no, those do not ALL count as power-ups, only when you specifically discard a spider-man card from your hand for +1/+1. If you do this, then Alien Symbiote can gain a counter instead of powering up.
