First, it's important to understand that only defenders who have neither flight nor range cannot stun an X-Men attacker with flight.
Second, "as if" or "as though" does not grant the actual characteristic; only the flight/range icon can do that.
Text which states "has range" or "has flight" will give a character the flight or range icon.
So what it all boils down to is that if the defender is without both flight and range, effects which read "as if" or "as though" will not allow that defender to stun an X-Men attacker with flight while Archangel is in play.
Hhmm......Zaxx I think you might have misunderstood the post. I think what he was asking is that, with Archangel in play, will his characters be stunned if they have "as if they had flight and range" and is attacking a character without flight and range.
From the FAQ
-A character that can attack as though he or she has flight and range does not actually have or get flight or range. Cards that “look” for flight or range, like Cover Fire, won’t
“find” him or her.
So in order for a defender to stun an X-men character with flight if Archangel is not stunned they have to have both flight and range or just one of the two? Ive been playing it as they need flight OR range OR both.
To be sure I understood you correctly, you interpreted the question to be whether an X-Men attacker considered to have flight will be affected by Archangel?
If so, no they will not.
So you are correct in saying the X-Men attacker can be stunned by a defender with neither flight nor range.

I'm hoping this is a typo... it should be defenders with neither flight nor range are the only ones unable to stun an X-Men attacker with flight while Archangel's in play. I got thrown in a little mental loop when I read that, and wanted to make sure things were clear.
What if you used a flying kick or Storms power? Would they then be able to benefit from Archangels power? I think they should because those abilities grant them flight, even though just for a turn.
He is referring to Storm's ability to remove flight (in the case that the opponent's character(s) have flight. Storm/4 can be used to make Archangel/5 more effective because then you only have to worry about the character having range. Storm/4 removes the flight icon for the turn. If, after you use Storm's power, they play Flying Kick then the character will again have flight (due to timestamps) until/unless you use Storm's power again.
thanks for the affirmation I was pretty sure that the characters give may attack "as if" didnt actually have flight. And yes this question was for attackers not defenders.
as far as defenders are concerned. they can only stun an attacking xmen character that has flight while archangel is on the field if they have one of the following.
1. Flight
2. Range
3. Flight and Range
They do not have to have Both flight and range they can have any of those 3 and still stun the attacker.
