This guy is frickin' sweet... if you ever see Deadpool and Sabertooth (4) on the opposite side of the table from ya, you cry 'bull' and leave. ^_^
Seriously though, this guy is all about the upswing... I'd see him doing really well with the odd initiative. Play with From the Shadows to make sure he survives turn 5... then on turn 6, he provides you with a natural upswing. If there's a 6-drop for the Crime Lords with a 10/14 for its stats, you play it. Only Insignificant Threat or Entangle provide efficient means of dealing with this monster.
Also... Deadpool working with Kingpin (7) can get a single PT away from sniping any 7-drop in the game, which is awesome too. Right now, all I can say is that the Crime Lords want odd turns. ^_^
From what we have seen so far, nearly all of these consealed characters are going to have to run "From the Shadows". I do like the look of Deadpool, and his art is real nice.
I think Canamrock has a point about the initiative, but I really think even initiative would kill some of the concealed characters. If you opponent is up to bat first and you only have concealed guys, your going to take a load of damage straight up, and then get most of you characters stunned when you attack your opponent.....
This gets back into the issue about how you make the best use of concealment...
Deadpool is a strong reason to have only a few concealed characters. Being unable to soak up damage for you is a pain, sure. His power to entirely disrupt an opponent's plans, however, is highly important. If the Crime Lords get an overstatted 4-drop to go in front of Kingpin, then they'll have a perfect setup for their 3-4-5 chain. The goal is to force your opponent to try and attack down with their 5-drop and get it stunned. That leaves you open to counterattack with Deadpool. Crime Lords / Spider-Friends are beginning to sound like a natural match with their mutual focus on proactive defense. In that setup, Kingpin / Puma / Deadpool is a good route to take for that effect. With ESU Science Lab, Sticky Situation, and Spider-Senses to aide you, it's going to be very hard for an opponent to do much to you. Assuming the Crime Lords can provide even more, this might be the push needed to bring some real shifts to the dynamic of VS combat.
The art in this set is all over the place so far I mean WOW
Michael Golden! This guy rarely draws anymore, I am shocked (and happy) to see him doing some art for this set.
oh and I think this is another great "assassin" character like black widow. Perfect to splash in a deck to help you with board control. Also, like another poster said, if you use three drop kingping you may not even miss the 5 drop defense.
sorry, but i think the deadpool art totally PWNZ the glowing daredevil (wait a minute, doesn't the artistic travesty know as the rhino have a think black outline? maybe its just the outlines i don't like...)
no flavor text, none at all, the merc with a mouth does not get any flavor text. who is responsable for this? this is an outrage, a travesty, a sham. why back in my day, bad-ass wise-cracking gunslingers got flavor text, none of this mamby-pamby silent treatment. who researched this card? did they just read leifield, that friggin hack, the next deadpool better be based on joe kelly's and necieza's work.
oh, yeah the card itself, the art is freakin awesome! i love it, i love it , i love it. nice abilty, i can see wanting evens with crime lords, take your lumps on turn 5, and then on turn 6, attack up with deadpool, and provide your own favorite deadpool quote as you do it, then attack down with whatever 6 drop they will have.
