Both me and my opponent got this msg when hosting, can anyone pls help me.

You have a firewall, you need to configure port forwarding.

How do i do that?

It's router specific. You need to look up the instructions for your particular model of router. Try the manufacturer's website.

MTGPlay normally uses port 1001.

Actually, I just noticed something....

127.0.0.1 is the loopback address. This means that in the message above, you were trying to connect to yourself.

If you do not want to configure your firewall, you can always log on to vsplay.gonjoy.net and play there. There are currently 10 active ports open on the dedicated server 1001 - 1010.
