So UDE finally put up all of the deck lists that were played in Las Vegas and I've gone through them in detail and have the following stats on what was played and what had success.
There were 31 distinct deck archetypes played.
Top 10 Archetypes
Curve Sentinels: 22
Teen Titans: 17
TNB: 8
Big Bat: 7
League of Assassins: 6
Gotham Curve: 6
Med. Brotherhood: 5
Common Enemy: 5
My Beloved: 5
Superman (Phone Booth): 5
Big Brotherhood: 4
FF/XMen Beats and Brave & Bold: 3 ea
I then looked at what was successful, defined as any deck that got 7 or more match points. Looking at the top 8 doesn't show you the whole story, as there were 16 players at 7 match points, 2 of which got in.
Here are the deck archetypes by percentage of players who got 7+ points:
Aggro Xmen: 1 (of 1) = 100%
FF/Gotham: 1 of 1 = 100% (Brian Eaton in the rankings, Feston in the deck lists)
Brave and Bold: 2 (of 3) = 66.7%
FF Burn: 1 (of 2) = 50%
Big Bat: 3 of 7 = 42.9%
TNB: 3 (of 8) = 37.5%
Curve Sentinels: 5 of 22 = 22.7%
Medium Bro: 1 of 5 = 20%
My Beloved: 1 of 5 = 20%
Teen Titans: 3 of 17 = 17.6%
Gotham Curve: 1 of 6 = 16.7%
Taking out the 2 "1 of 1" and FF Burn, we see that the most successful archetypes were actually Brave & Bold, Big Bat and TNB. While Curve Sentinels placed 4 in the top 8, only 1 of the other 14 Curve Sentinel players got 7 points!
Teen Titans has to be seen as a disappointment, being the second highest played deck and only placing 3 in the top 22. X Stall was a non-factor thankfully. LoA and Superman also have to be seen as disappointing Tier 2 decks considering none of the 11 players got 7 points.
I'm not sure what was up with the Aggro X-Men (which also had Phoenix Force potential), but it clearly did suprisingly well as is worth a look on the deck list.
Personaly, I found the My Beloved decks to be a suprise. I truely wasn't expecting that, theres hope for the small teams yet. Well, not skrull or negative zone, they have next to no charachters and other cards.

If it is, why is Hank Hall in there? Surely it must be a typo.
Glad to see league start to make a slight appearance. I though I was the only one who had mono-assassins, where were these other ones hiding? It should have done better, considering the great matchup that is curve sentinels was overly represented. But I guess since my beloved has the fizzles, they were bound to do better... oh well, there's always wizard world LA
league certainly made an impressive showing, and a few league-mixed decks also appeared. Some of the league players for the weekend that stand out in my mind...well, one guy, is John Stevens from VSU.
Obviously these were aiming to take out titans, which didn't finish all that well as shown.
for my beloved, I believe only one out of the five decks actually had significant focus on gotham 1-4 and league 5-8 for their drops, and that was the winner, Tim Batow. My friend Justiceleague was running my deck in my place since I was writing, but his experience is better found in darkseid, which, speaking of the elite, I didn't see any at all this tournament...or any real new gods for that matter.
preston chinn threw me for a loop late in the tournament when analyzing the top 8. it was a lot of CS up there, Tim's beloved, a titans, some cosmic cops, and...X-beats. my only reaction was "the hell? sweet!"
shame you didn't finish top 8 preston. nice job though for doing well with the deck. I was watching and was really impressed. =D
Starscream: Yeah, that was it. At first I thought it was some sort of X-Men/TT build (there was one there) then I realised it was a typo. So shall we play "Guess Preston's other two drop!" (assuming its actually a two drop)
The other really interesting stat was the 5 completely random "I bought some VS boosters and played in a 10k" decks. Had one of THOSE top 8'd we'd all be scratching our heads.
What about the Spider-Friends breakdown? In briefly scanning the lists, I did see some dedicated Spidey decks and they are not included in your breakdown. Did they do so poorly that not a one of them ranked 7+ points? They also were not in your metagame breakdown at the beginning. What's the analysis on pure Spidey?
What's the deal with all the Magneto MOM's in the curve sentinel decks?
You must control a brotherhood character to recruit him but unless there's something I missed in all those decks, there is no way to make any of the sentinels have brotherhood affilliation.

That makes him pretty much useless, doesn't it?
Since when did u need a brotherhood to recruit him?
No. The 7-drop Magneto doesn't have any sort of loyalty. You must be thinking of the 8-drop.
The idea behind the 7-drop Magneto is to play him on 7 and crack a few Genosha's to get some killer plots and more characters to discard for Bastion. Then if the game doesn't end that turn, Magneto's effect will stop any of their stunned guys from making it to the next turn.
why is it both metagame.com and the realms card list have a picture of the card that states it has loyalty? It is the 7 drop in both pictures. I no longer have one to look at myself. Did they change the card at any point?

There is no errata on the uDE site for it.
Well originally it was going to have loyalty, but a more last minute change changed it so that it didn't.
The reason Mono-League didnt do very well is because My Beloved is practically strictly better. The only advantages Mono League has are Merlyn's Cosmic ability, Flying Fortress, Lazarus Pit, and 3 Drop Ubu.
My Beloved's advantages clearly outshine Mono-Leagues, and you dont bend over to Kaboom, nor have to run the 'Terrapeable' Kyle Abbot. Beloved gives you Alfred, the best two drop in the game (Spoiler), and the best combat Oriented 4-Drop in the game (Cassandra Cain, excluding Tooth).
Beloved is simply a very good Aggro-Control deck; it is the "New Common Enemy." While it does have Loyalty issues, it is less reliant than Common Enemy on getting its teamup online, and can function perfectly fine without it. It is practically immune to Foiled/Kaboom (ditch Beloveds/Stronghold to Ras-6), and provides amazing counter abilities in Babel, Fizzle, and Utility Belt. The deck isnt very difficult to wield, but is very difficult to play against. While its drops are smaller than Common Enemy's, they have better abilities, and Ras-8 will end up winning more games than Surfer.
I played Mono League for about a month after the PCLA 15k (I placed 2nd in the DC side with it before I had to drop to catch my plane flight), and decided it really didnt have enough going for it. You are forced to run 8 horrible 2-drops to support Ubu and Demons Head, and lose any games you do not hit a 2-drop. The deck was also incredibly reliant on having Odd initiatives for Bane and Lady Shiva. I decided to make the switch to My Beloved and practically played mono-Gotham with the few things I liked from mono-League (Their late game, Bane, Babel, Stronghold, and Initiate).
