Is this there answer to retirement of sets? By doing this are they like retiring(modern age, Golden age) with out exactly saying it?

I am not going to lie i would like to play in a tournament where i have no worries about SB or acro Dodge would be nice.

Basically they are doing the same thing as MtG:

Golden Age = Type 1
Modern Age = Type 2 or Block Constructed

And with more sets in the future there might be even some sort of Extended (like Modern Age with the last 5 sets or so).

Though unlike Magic, half of the Professional level events will be "Type I" i.e. Golden Age.

Basically all of the main tournaments will be in the Golden format.

The 10K events will have these Modern formats so that its more of a challenge and keeps the big tournament scene fresh.

Yes, but unlike Magic the printrun of the first sets wasn't as small that singlecard-prizes will go up to 3- or 4-digits anytime soon.

And unlike Magic the Pro Circuit was started less than half a year after the first release. And the game was made with the PC in mind. And they could keep it balanced from the beginning because they used the experience some people made with another TCG....

There are a lot of reasons why Vs. can have Golden Age Professional Tournaments while Magic can't have Type 1 Professional Tournaments.

After thinking about it, changing the formats is a good idea. This way, the main decks won't dominate every event. It might seem bad at first, but do you honestly want to see Teen Titans winning the next 5-6 Pro Circuit events? I didn't think so. This way, new teams have a much better advantage of getting into the top-cut. I expect Spidey to win PC3 now.
