Ok now dont get me wrong i love comic books, but have mainly followed marvel characters, mainly spiderman and at one point spawn but thats about it.
im kind of blah w/ DC, so heres what im curious about.
A friend of mine told me that in the JLA green arrow is actually speedy all grown up and that aquaman is Garth, Is this true? i mean it makes SOME sense except that the timelines wouldnt at all.
The whole TT deal is confusing really. can any comic buffs clear this up?
Your friend is lying to you. Speedy is still Arsenal, who is a member of the Outsiders. There are two Green Arrows, Ollie Queen and his son Conner Hawke. Although both of them have served on the JLA in the past, they are not currently members (Ollie is on a team called the Justice League Elite, which is a black-ops version of the League).
Garth is still Tempest. The original Aquaman is still Aquaman, and is also not a member of the JLA, although he was in the past. Garth helped the League in the recent Obsidian Age storyline, but he has not ever joined it to my knowledge.
To add your friend may have been confused with the fact that for a short while the original Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) was thought missing and dead and the son he never knew he had took over the role as the Green Arrow and joined the JLA for a few issues. As far as I know they are both currently known as the green arrow.
another aspect is the alternate future line stories that pop up from time to time, where in 'current' characters assume the roles of their mentors after some tragedy removes the original from active duty ( be it something like a death or simply retirement)
