Deadpool's flavor text goes in league with a prediction made on starcitygames.com once about the future of MTG flavor text, year was 2020 or so, html was encoded into a blue card that linked to a copy of moby dick.
So one day we will get a deadpool with size 4 font detailing his first 8 issues in deadpool speach.
I actually found and submitted Deadpool's flavor text to Inquest's flavor text contest, but the contest was canceled and there was no winner. It's really wierd and a strange coincidence that he wound up with that flavor text. Really wierd.
You mean they couldn't find a smaller quote? The guy's jabbering all the TIME! There's gotta be something they could've used.
Flavor text must be decided independently of its card's design. The way it seems to work is that the flavor text guys and the card effect guys have no idea what the others are doing until the last minute.
Perhaps you can take some solace in the fact that he is sniping in the card's art, and thus, is unlikely to be saying much due to the fact that not being revealed is obviously pertinent.
I'm just glad that he's such a good card. Sure, flavor text would have been cool but I can just think about all the funny things he says instead. Anyway, they would have had to make a little yellow text bubble on the bottom of the card anyway.
Now, who else thinks it's funny that Wade is sniping on the card when it's been established that he actually isn't very accurate with guns and is far more efficent in close combat? I think it's funny... but then again, I'm easily amused.
Is it in the 'mysterious employer credo' that rendezvous always have to be in exotic locales? I mean, just once wouldn't you like to sit down at Denny's and plan an assassination over a Grand Slam breakfast?

I don't know where you got that idea. Flavour is done in sync with the cards - and those who do the majority of the flavour - and those who make the final selections - specifically gear the flavour to match the art and the card's effect as much as possible (plus the art is matched up as much as possible).
The problems are:
1) sometimes there is simply not enough room on the card for flavour. at least 3-4 cards that I know of lost flavour because the game text took up too much space.
2) last minute design changes can alter or eliminate the flavour on a card. A couple of cards lost their flavour at the last minute because an extra line of game text was added.
Since the flavour, art and design are all done by different teams, each team does the best they can to sync up the cards as best as possible, but inevitably there will be some cards that don't end up as originally envisioned in one or more of those departments...

wade is no slouch with a gun, sure he is a better fighter, but he can hold his own.
although to be fair, it is hard to miss when he usually fires automatic weapons at point-blnak range.
