While making arrangements for the upcoming developer chat with Danny Mandel, we found out that Danny's decided to part ways with Vs and with UDE. We talked a bit with him to find out what happened and what went into his decision.

(PS. Yes this was an April Fool's joke)

"I got a better offer from another company. I'm not at liberty to say who, but let's just say they're Wizards at making card games." When asked about what his role will be at the new company he said he'd be heading up R&D for a new game. "We've got some really good ideas for the new game. It's a licensed product from a Dark Horse in the comics industry, but I can't really say more than that. I've got an Image to protect." Danny was short on details about the game itself. "The first rule of Project Beatdown is 'You do not talk about Project Beatdown.'"

When asked if there were any other reasons behind his departure from UDE he said "You want reasons? I'll give you reasons! Dave Humphreys keeps going on and on about my hair. It's not my fault he can't grow a sweet mane of hair like mine. And Mike Hummel just wouldn't let up. It was always 'Where's the Avengers draft results'-this and 'Why haven't you submitted any cards for Justice League'-that. And on and on about not showing up in the office. I can't be held responsible if traffic's bad! They want me to be in before 10:30am every morning. I just can't deal with that sort of pressure. And let's not get into Jeff Donais' constant 'requests' for me to pick up his dry cleaning. 'If they send back another shirt with a stain in it. . . well, let's just say we're looking for a developer for Bratz and the next Spongebob expansion.' Well, I finally got fed up and got a job with a company that respects my talents instead of relegating me to go nowhere properties."

I asked if he would have any future contact with the Vs community. "Once the moratorium on me playing is lifted, I've got some decks with secret R&D tech that'll absolutely rule the environment. We didn't let any of these decks out because they're totally sweet, but since I'm the first one out, I'll be able to take my tech with me and use it before any of those other hacks in R&D can play. Besides, with all the cards we get for free working in R&D, I was able to get foils and extended art copies of all the sets. When you see a play set of extended art Xavier's Dreams on the Pro Circuit, you'll know you're playing the Maaannn. Mandel, that is."

This news puts plans for the next chat up in the air. We'll provide an update as soon as we can.

Man, y'all try to draw too much attention to your April's Fools pranks. The first trick of believable lying is to play with subtlety. Man... if I had some comics, I'd show you a prank. Oh well, perhaps for next year...

well, this could be an april fools prank, but i it isnt i dunno if i should be happy or sad, cuse:
1: it does kinda sound like Danny
2: With all the mandel hate, everyone might be happy about this..

Its a joke, he wouldnt be so harsh to his former co-workers. He is whining about stuff that is not that important(dry cleaning). Who cares! If he did quit, he can now show us a bunch of cool cards even though thatd go against his contract. But who cares! Its a winwin for us!

see. nobody cares about danny mandel. if it was Dave H. or someone else, we might care but Mandel gets no love. Its like that Fake card's Flavor Text: Gone but Forgotten- "Hey, do you miss that guy?" "Hell No."
