I've been reading alot about what rares everyone likes in the new set, now lets hear about the flipside.
What cards will you be saving money to buy gas instead of wasting it on these rare duds.

Kent Farm.

I have to disagree. Kent Farm combined with Soldiers of New Genesis makes for a nasty deck. With Birthing Chamber to draw cards, and Serifan to protect your endurance, this deck is one to be reckoned with.

STAR Labs, however, is not a very good card, especially for a rare.

Reign of Terra(ble)

At least Star Labs has a place in a classic Team Superman deck. Kent Farm requires a deck to be built around it.

I forgot Reign of Terra. Why make that a rare?

So every card that creates a new deck type is bad?

A card is never really "bad" unless there's another card that's superior to it in every way, and unless I'm mistaken, Upper Deck has yet to obsolete any of their cards in such a manner.

so it doesnt effect the sealed as much as if it were a common or uncommon.


Anyways, as for dud rares....I would have to something along the lines of Reign of Terra, Evil Star, or Jericho....

^Reign of Terra would not affect sealed at all. I'd rather get stuck with 2 copies of it in Sealed than open a pack and get it, feeling robbed of a rare.

When you play sealed, you're paying for the packs you're playing with anyways..

I have, and I'm quite skilled in limited (top 8 finish at PCQ, won the GL sneak preview) so hold your tongue. Oh yeah, and thanks for sending that trade I thought we had, Warran.

And the point makes sense. How many times have you opened a pack now to get Web Shooters? JJJ? Wouldn't you have liked Upper Deck to have made that an uncommon, and maybe miss out on another uncommon, to give yourself actually decent rares in packs that you'll buy down the road?

I personally think Reign of Terra will be fine as a sort of teamup in unaffiliated decks. It lets you splash affiliated drops with good abilities and still get the benefits (like MOJO bonuses) by making them unaffiliated.

yeah, opening crappy legacy stuff for your rare is pretty gay. Maybe upper deck should make stuff like web-shooters just really really uncommon?

as for the rares in this set, they look better than the stuff from the last three sets, but reign of terra and star lab etc. go in the box with jjj, gothcorp, and lucious fox.

Armies of Qward is one that only army deckbuilders will like so some people might devalue it. Jericho most definetly is junk no matter how you slice it, as is Reign of Terra which has been mentioned before. Darkseid Undenied is also one I don't want to pull.

Finally, I know I'll get berated for this, but Commander is also a junk rare. It will not help New Gods to the extent it's supposed to due to Commander's ability being Cosmic himself. And don't tell me New Genesis will solve everything with Commander because that'll happen once and then you're topdecking for the rest of the game. Sorry UDE, but a 6 defense 4 drop gets stunned on turn 4.
