There was a UDE rep in our area visiting local stores, checking the progress of VS. System within our region. First I would like to say it was very cool to speak with someone who helped in the preparation of the game we play. He was a really nice guy and answered alot of questions. (though not giving out any pertinent or important information)
He mentioned that the original savage beatdown had compounded like Path of destruction, while also giving an extra amount of printed +atk. Eventually Jeff Donais himself had his hand in the final carnation.
He also said that the original Reign of Terror bounced all characters with a cost of 3 back to the opponents hand, which by the way sounds just sick.
The original Collosus got +1 atk for each X-men character in your graveyard.
And also the Sinister Syndicate was a powerhouse before getting nerfed.
We tried to get info about upcoming sets, but had no success.
I remember hearing from somewhere that they also hosed Arkham, something that is quite unfortunate as still hold that team close to my heart.
At least with Hush and Two Face, times are changing. Especially since I already have two Two Face just from the Pre-Release, and it'll take a few trades for Hush.
Well, in UDE's favor, rush decks (speed kill decks in general) are the most difficult to balance. You want the speed and aggression, but if it's even a tad too quick it dominates a format. So an ATK-high, DEF-low team initially being weakned when introduced to the players does not come as that much of a suprise to me.
Arkham...well, I dunno, maybe the deck was too synergistic, so they needed to tone it down some. They definitely made up for AI's deficiencies in DGL though!
